Job description

Role Summary
Free People is seeking an Associate Concept Designer. At Free People the Concept team serves as our in house trend service, researching and sharing fashion trends and concepts as they apply to the Free People customer across multiple categories and by generating visual content while providing the assistance needed to communicate trends through the creation of presentations and publications. This role is based on-site 3-5 days per week at our world headquarters in Philadelphia, PA.
Role Responsibilities
  • Contribute a unique creative perspective on current fashion trends under the director of the Director of Concept and Cheif Creative Concept Officer.
  • Conduct research of trend direction in the areas of Color, Print, Graphics, Embellishment, Wash, Fabric, Silhouette, Shoes and Design Details as they relate to the Free People customer.
  • Compile visual content and build strong trend guides that visually document and communicate seasonal trends to the Design team and cross functional partners in assigned trend categories.
  • Utilize Ai to build imagery for presentations.
  • Maintain effective communication with design teams regarding trend presentation dates, concept packet publication and sample distribution.
  • Attend MSR's for both Wholesale & Retail as well as Sales meetings to keep up with current selling info, buying needs and to help in identifying categories that need trend support.

Role Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Fashion, Graphic Design, Merchandising or similar discipline.
  • 3+ years of experience in Fashion Design, Print Design, Concept Design or Trend Forecasting Industry.
  • Strong understanding and passion for the Free People customer and brand DNA.
  • Digital & visual presentation skills to create impactful & inspiring trend packs (InDesign).
  • Passionate and knowledgeable of emerging trends from runway, apparel brands, street style, art, design, and influencers.
  • Highly organized and efficient, self-starter and solution seeker.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast paced and team-based environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, conveying ideas, and feedback with clarity.
  • Strong skills in Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, CAD, Midjourney or other generative AI skills a plus.
  • Professional portfolio demonstrating relevent concept, trend and design work.
