About this opportunity Ericsson Enterprise Wireless Solutions is building its modem engineering team, leading end-to-end modem baseband, platform, and firmware architecture for next-generation enterprise and industrial IoT solutions.

This founding team works closely with global Ericsson engineering organizations and leading modem chipset partners on advanced LGA-based platforms. As a Principal Modem Architect, you will own the complete modem firmware architecture for LGA modem modules, drive modem software stack integration strategy, and provide technical leadership across modem software, hardware interfaces, and platform components. This is a ground-up opportunity to define architecture, influence long-term technology direction, and deliver high-performance 5G platforms deployed at a global scale.

What you will do Own and define the end-to-end modem firmware architecture for LGA modem modules Lead modem software stack integration, customization, and long-term upgrade strategy Define architectural guidelines for baseband platform, RF, power management, and system interfaces Drive cross-team technical alignment across firmware, hardware, RF, and platform teams Serve as the primary technical contact with modem chipset and hardware partners Review and guide complex design decisions, trade-offs, and performance optimizations Debug and resolve critical system-level issues across hardware, firmware, and software boundaries Influence modem roadmap decisions, technology choices, and future platform evolution The skills you will bring 10+ years of experience in embedded systems architecture, with 3+ years in modem or wireless domains Hands-on experience with modem chipset platforms Deep understanding of modem subsystem architecture, including ARM cores, DSP, and hardware accelerators Expert knowledge of modem software stacks and integration models Strong proficiency in C/C++ for large-scale, real-time embedded systems Experience with system-level debugging using JTAG, trace tools, and lab instrumentation Ability to lead technical discussions, reviews, and cross-team design alignment Experience across multiple modem generations and carrier deployments (preferred) Linux kernel or embedded driver development experience (preferred) Solid fundamentals in wireless and RF concepts (preferred) Experience in mentorship or technical leadership (preferred) Master's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field (preferred) Why join Ericsson. The salary range for this position is LOCATION Santa Clara : $234,000-$292,500 Short-Term Variable Compensation Plan (select if STV):Your pay also includes the opportunity for an annual bonus. Actual bonus payouts are based on performance of the business against the unit's objectives, individual performance, and the individual bonus target. Certain eligibility and pro-ration rules apply.

Your Time Your work-life balance is important to us. Please note paid time off is pro-rated based on the employee's start date.

Furthermore, Ericsson provides up to 16 weeks of paid maternity leave and 6 weeks of parental or adoption leave at 100% of pay.
