Embedded Systems Engineer
Location: San Antonio, Texas (On-site)
Role Overview
This role involves the design, development, and testing of systems for avionics equipment. The position requires a candidate with a background in both software and hardware engineering to update existing test systems for U.S. Air Force equipment. The primary focus is on "Design to Test" activities, which includes designing how to connect units to the tester and integrating systems into the equipment.
Key Responsibilities
  • Develop Test Program Sets (TPS) and other aviation test equipment through the product life cycle.
  • Design, develop, modify, and evaluate electronic parts, components, and integrated circuitry for electronic equipment.
  • Assist test system development teams with operational and functional allocation and hardware architecture design.
  • Design electrical circuits and manage resource allocations to ensure test requirements are met.
  • Analyze equipment to establish operating data and conduct experimental tests.
  • Integrate hardware and software components for automated testing solutions.
  • Interface with customers regarding developmental efforts.
Required Qualifications
Education: A Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or an equivalent engineering field is required.
Experience: 3-6 years of professional experience in a relevant engineering capacity is required.
Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in designing electrical circuits and reading electrical schematics.
  • Experience with software development using C#, React, or Java.
  • Demonstrated expertise with digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, closed-loop servo systems, or AC/DC power supplies.
  • Experience with the integration of hardware and software.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with LabVIEW.
  • Experience with Automated Test Systems (ATE) or Test Program Sets (TPS).
  • Knowledge of PCB design, potentially using Altium or an equivalent tool.
  • Familiarity with Model-Based System Engineering (MBSE).
  • Experience with product development through production and life cycle management (e.g., IEEE 15288).
  • Knowledge of quality process standards such as ISO 9001, AS9100, or CMMI.
