Embedded Systems Architect

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Embedded Systems Architect to design and build secure cloud-connected embedded devices. This role involves working across embedded firmware, networking, and cloud platforms to ensure devices can be securely connected, managed, monitored, and updated remotely.

The ideal candidate should have strong experience with Embedded C/C++, RTOS, IoT devices, and Azure IoT technologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and architect embedded device solutions that connect securely to the cloud.
  • Develop and guide firmware architecture using C/C++ and RTOS (Zephyr, FreeRTOS, ThreadX).
  • Build secure device communication using TCP/IP, HTTP, MQTT, TLS, and mTLS.
  • Design solutions for:
    • Device provisioning and onboarding
    • Certificate and identity management
    • OTA (Over-the-Air) firmware updates
    • Remote monitoring, logging, and diagnostics
    • Device lifecycle management
  • Integrate devices with Azure IoT Hub, Device Provisioning Service (DPS), and device management platforms.
  • Troubleshoot firmware, networking, and cloud integration issues.
  • Lead technical discussions, mentor engineers, and ensure best practices are followed.
  • Work closely with client stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions.

Required Skills

  • Strong experience with Embedded C/C++ development.
  • Experience with RTOS (Zephyr, FreeRTOS, or ThreadX).
  • Experience designing embedded firmware architecture.
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP, HTTP, MQTT, and secure communication (TLS/mTLS).
  • Experience with cloud-connected/IoT devices.
  • Understanding of device provisioning, certificates, and secure authentication.
  • Ability to troubleshoot embedded, networking, and cloud integration issues.
  • Experience leading technical teams and working with cross-functional teams.
