Scope of the Position: Embedded Software Engineer in Allen Park, MI.
Flex-N-Gate This successful candidate will translate customer and product requirements to software architecture specifications, develop the embedded software and validate system functions in safety critical electronic modules developed for automotive OEM customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and integration of embedded software for automotive electronic control units (ECUs)
- Translate customer specifications into software requirements and system architecture
- Execute the Flex-N-Gate Product Development Process to deliver projects on time, within budget, and to defined quality standards
- Collaborate cross-functionally with customers, program managers, and engineering teams to define and refine product requirements
- Analyze system requirements, design software architecture, implement code, and verify real-time embedded systems
- Develop and support software validation strategies, including manufacturing, EMC, and environmental testing
- Drive continuous improvement of software tools, methodologies, and development processes to enhance product quality and customer satisfaction
- Support troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and resolution of software-related issues
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred)
- Minimum 5 years of experience in real-time embedded software development, preferably in safety-critical automotive applications
- Strong programming expertise in C, C++, and assembly language, with experience in scripting languages
- Solid understanding of automotive electrical systems, including analog/digital circuits and communication protocols (CAN, LIN, SPI, I2C)
- Familiarity with software development standards and processes such as ASPICE
- Knowledge of functional safety and related standards (ISO 26262, ISO 21448) and automotive cybersecurity (ISO 21434) is highly desirable
- Experience controlling DC motors and stepper motors is a plus
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively in a global, cross-functional team environment
- Excellent communication skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office tools
- Willingness to travel up to 10% within North America
