Job Summary

The Senior Software Engineer is an integral part of our Electro Optical Infrared System (EOIS) Software Development Team.  Responsible for leading technical activities and completing such activities on time, this engineer can execute in all phases of the development lifecycle and influencing the design architecture to ensure robust operation.  Tasks include developing embedded software, PC tools and utilities, and implementing networking/communications protocols. Determines hardware compatibility and influences component selection. Completes design documentation and procedures to build, install, and maintain software. Interacts with users to define system requirements and/or necessary modifications.  Ability to lead a technical project independently.

Job Responsibilities
  • Supports and participates in technical activity
  • Designs, develops, analyzes, documents, and supports testing of products, systems or subsystems
  • May use computer-aided engineering or other design/analysis software in the performance of assignments
  • Provides regular reporting of progress and status
  • Responsible for completion of assigned task on time and meeting technical requirements
  • Reviews customer specifications and requirements, and under direction develops designs to best support them, including cost as a key design variable
  • Supports design to cost and design for manufacture requirements
  • Develops prototypes to retire key development risks as directed
  • Communicates clearly (written and oral) with other company personnel and the customer as required
  • Supports, communicates, reinforces and defends the mission, values and culture of the organization
  • Tests and Qualifies software for customer release
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related engineering technical field (or a minimum of 5 years of experience with unrelated degree)
  • 3+ years of real time embedded SW experience
  • Demonstrate experience with Real Time Operating Systems (RTOS), Linux and has experience in bare-metal implementation of embedded systems
  • Experience with embedded device drivers (TCP/IP, UART, I2C, SPI, PCIe, MIPI, 1553), preferably on Linux
  • Solid understanding of multi-threading/multi-processing, concepts, implementations, and debugging techniques
  • Strong development experience in C or C++ (3+ years)
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, including MS PowerPoint, MS Word, and MS Excel
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Defense Secret security clearance
  • Motivated, self-starter, with the ability to work independently and under supervision of others

DESIRED SKILLS 

  • Experience in initial hardware start-up and troubleshooting techniques
  • Familiar with oscilloscopes and logic analyzers
  • Strong analytical and communication skills
  • Experience in Linux or VxWorks
  • Capable of integrating hardware and software and developing test plans and procedures
  • Ability to collaborate with, lead and/or direct the work of others as assigned
  • Active U.S. Department of Defense Secret security clearance preferred
  • Experience with modern software development processes, including software configuration management tools (such as git), static analysis tools, defect tracking tools, peer review, and continuous development & continuous integration
