Location: Mossville, IL- 100% onsite (preference first goes to local candidates, open to non-local candidates who can 100% relocate 2 weeks from offer and be onsite day 1 at their own cost)

Type: Contract

Hours: 8-5 M-F, 40 hour work days

Pay: range $41.93/hour on w2- no flex, exact rate

Length: 12 months- possibility to extend

Screenings: no tech, full panel drug and background once hired

+optional benefits, long term contract with ability to extend


⭐ Must haves:


  • Years of experience: 0-3
  • Degree requirement: Bachelor’s of Science in Engineering (Electrical or
  • Computer Engineering ), NO 2 year degrees, Open to Masters
  • Engine Testing, Validation & Troubleshooting
  • Data Analysis and Root Cause Investigation
  • Software/Test Automation Development (Python, C#, or similar)
  • Understanding of embedded systems and electronic control modules (ECMs)
  • Knowledge of software verification and validation processes
  • Ability to analyze test results and identify root causes
  • Familiarity with CAN/J1939 communication and diagnostic tools
  • Experience working with test equipment, data acquisition systems, or HIL/SIL environments

Job Description: Summary:

The main function of an embedded software engineer is to apply the principles of computer science and mathematical analysis to the design, development, testing, and evaluation of the embedded software and systems that make computers work. A typical embedded software engineer researches, designs, develops and tests operating systems-level software, compilers, and network distribution software for medical, industrial, military, communications, aerospace, business, scientific and general computing applications.


Job Responsibilities:

• Design and implement software of embedded devices and systems from requirements to production and commercial deployment for product lines.


• Write and code logical and physical database descriptions and specify identifiers of database to management system or direct others in coding descriptions.


• Analyze and enhance efficiency, stability and scalability of system resources


• Review project requests describing database user needs to estimate time and cost required to accomplish project.



Skills:

• Verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, customer service and interpersonal skills.

• Knowledge of reading schematics and data sheets for components

• Basic knowledge of the full software development lifecycle: from business/systems analysis, through requirements gathering and functional specification authoring, to development, testing and delivery.

• Basic ability to troubleshoot issues and make system changes as needed to resolve issue.

• Basic knowledge of computer hardware and software. Solid programming experience in C or C++

• Knowledge of computer development software as it relates to embedded systems, such as SQL, VisualBasic, etc.



Position’s Contributions to Work Group:

  • Core Gas Engine Software Test team requires a dedicated resource to focus on test automation. These automation packages will be heavily used for production file delivery. (Currently mostly delivered with Manual Testing)


Typical task breakdown:

  • Engine software validation and test execution
  • Test result analysis, defect investigation, and root cause analysis
  • Test automation development and maintenance (Automation driver file updates, script development, debugging)

Interaction with team:

  • Collaborate daily with software developers, controls engineers, test engineers, and validation engineers.

Team Structure

  • Reports to: Engineering Team Lead / Project Team Lead

Work environment:

  • All work will be in a Soft lab with a combination of computer-based automation development and hands-on interaction with test systems and engine controls.
  • No PPE required
