Embedded Software Engineer Relocation information

What are Embedded Software Engineers and what does relocation mean in this context?

Embedded Software Engineers design, develop, and optimize software that runs on specialized hardware or embedded systems, such as microcontrollers or IoT devices. In the context of relocation, this job may require moving to a particular city or country where the employer's development center or project site is located. Companies often support relocation by assisting with moving expenses, visa processing, and settling-in services. Relocating can offer exposure to new technologies, cultures, and professional growth opportunities. It's important to inquire about the specific relocation package and support provided by the employer.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Embedded Software Engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Embedded Software Engineer, you need strong proficiency in C/C++, real-time operating systems, microcontroller architecture, and a relevant engineering degree. Familiarity with tools such as debuggers, oscilloscopes, version control systems (like Git), and often certifications in embedded systems or IoT are highly valued. Attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and effective communication are crucial soft skills for collaborating across hardware and software teams. These skills ensure robust, efficient, and reliable product development in complex embedded environments.

What is the difference between Embedded Software Engineer Relocation vs Embedded Software Developer?

AspectEmbedded Software Engineer RelocationEmbedded Software Developer
CredentialsBachelor's or higher in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related fields; certifications like C, C++, or RTOS are commonSame as Embedded Software Engineer Relocation
Work EnvironmentTypically in manufacturing, automotive, or consumer electronics companies; involves relocation to different sites or regionsSimilar environments; focus on developing and testing embedded systems
Industry UsageUsed across automotive, aerospace, consumer electronics, and industrial automationCommonly used in the same industries for software development roles

Both roles require similar technical skills and certifications, with the main difference being that Embedded Software Engineer Relocation emphasizes geographic mobility, often involving relocation to different company sites or regions. The core responsibilities and industry applications are largely overlapping, making them closely related roles in embedded systems development.

What are the common challenges faced by Embedded Software Engineers when relocating for a new position?

Relocating as an Embedded Software Engineer often involves adapting to new company processes, development tools, and hardware platforms, which can vary significantly between organizations. Additionally, engineers may need to quickly build relationships with cross-functional teams, such as hardware engineers and quality assurance specialists, to ensure seamless product development. Familiarizing oneself with local industry standards or regulatory requirements is also crucial, especially if relocating internationally. Proactively seeking mentorship and participating in team meetings can help smooth the transition and accelerate integration into the new work environment.

About Holley Performance Brands

For over a century, Holley Performance Brands has been at the forefront of automotive innovation โ€” powering enthusiasts, racers, and builders who demand performance without compromise. We design, engineer, and manufacture world-class products.

At Holley, engineering is central to our mission. Weโ€™re building the next generation of performance technology โ€” uniting engineering disciplines to create integrated systems that push the boundaries of whatโ€™s possible, from the street to the track.

Position Summary

The Engineering Manager โ€“ Electronics Hardware leads the design and development of electronic hardware for automotive applications. You will guide a team of electrical engineers and designers responsible for schematic design, PCB layout, circuit design and analysis, and validation of power, signal, and control electronics. You will manage delivery of robust, manufacturable designs that meet program cost, quality, and timing objectives. Additionally, you will be responsible for defining a scalable, reusable, hardware platform strategy and roadmap while taking products from concept to release.

Key Responsibilities

ยท Be an effective people manager with the ability to get hands-on in technical design (schematics, circuit analysis, PCB layout review, electrical simulation, DFM/DFT, DVP&R, etc.)

ยท Coach and develop a team of engineers, PCB designers, and technicians, building an inclusive and high performance culture.

ยท Own planning and execution of electronics hardware projects (requirements, resources, schedules, risk management, and release readiness).

ยท Define and lead platform strategy for electronics systems โ€“ power distribution, analog, digital, IO, communication networks, sensors, and control devices and peripherals.

ยท Drive robust design reviews including: schematic, layout, DFMEA, and design verification planning to ensure robust design and validation coverage to requirements.

ยท Collaborate closely with Systems, Embedded Software, Mechanical, and Test and Validation teams to ensure electrical designs integrate seamlessly across disciplines.

ยท Oversee supplier development projects, approve and manage technical deliverables, and support component qualification and PPAP.

ยท Ensure compliance with EMC, ESD, environmental, and safety requirements.

ยท Manage New Product Development, Sustaining Engineering, and Rooy Cause/Corrective Action projects with urgency, accuracy, and accountability.

ยท Promote standardization, modularity, and reuse of electrical designs, components, and architectures across programs.

Required Qualifications

ยท B.S in Electrical Engineering, or related field.

ยท 7+ years in electronics product development, including 1-3 years in technical or people leadership.

ยท Strong background in analog/digital circuit design, power electronics, microcontroller-based systems, and communication interfaces (CAN, LIN, Ethernet, etc.)

ยท Proficiency in schematic capture and PCB design tools (Altium).

ยท Strengths in PLM/PDM systems, BOM control, and engineering change management.

ยท Proven ability to manage engineering programs using Jira.

ยท Strong organization, communication, and problem-solving skills.

ยท Experience leading cross-functional and supplier-interfacing projects.

Preferred Qualifications

ยท Masterโ€™s degree in engineering or related field.

ยท Strong knowledge of automotive electronics, sensors, and control systems.

ยท Passionate about automotive performance and powertrain vehicles and systems.

ยท Knowledge of Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) fundamentals and Engine Management Systems.
