Qualification:
The Senior Embedded Firmware Engineer is a senior-level onsite contract role focused on developing, maintaining, and optimizing firmware for safety-critical medical devices. The position requires extensive experience in embedded C/C++ development, particularly with template-heavy C++ code, RTOS environments, real-time motor control, CAN bus communication, and microcontroller-based systems. The engineer will troubleshoot complex hardware-software interactions, perform system calibration, support board bring-up activities, and ensure compliance with medical device regulations such as ISO 13485. This role is ideal for candidates with strong debugging skills, hands-on lab equipment experience, and a proven background in regulated embedded systems.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain, optimize, and debug a mature embedded firmware codebase written in C++ and C.
- Develop and support real-time 2–3 axis motor control functionality.
- Configure, calibrate, and optimize embedded systems for various hardware platforms.
- Implement, monitor, and troubleshoot CAN bus communication.
- Perform board bring-up, peripheral integration, and firmware debugging.
- Diagnose hardware-software interaction issues using oscilloscopes and logic analyzers.
- Work with RTOS-based embedded applications.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, design specifications, and regulatory artifacts.
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to deliver high-quality firmware solutions.
- Ensure firmware meets safety, reliability, and regulatory compliance requirements.
