What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Embedded Quality Assurance Engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Embedded Quality Assurance Engineer, you need a solid understanding of embedded systems, software testing methodologies, and proficiency in programming languages like C or C++. Familiarity with automated testing frameworks, debugging tools, hardware simulators, and certifications such as ISTQB are often required. Excellent analytical thinking, attention to detail, and effective communication skills help ensure thorough testing and collaboration with development teams. These competencies are vital for delivering reliable embedded products and detecting critical issues early in the development cycle.

What are the most common challenges faced by Embedded Quality Assurance Engineers during the testing process?

Embedded Quality Assurance Engineers often encounter challenges such as limited access to hardware, difficulty in reproducing bugs due to real-time constraints, and the need to work with diverse development tools and platforms. Testing embedded systems typically requires specialized equipment and a deep understanding of both software and hardware interactions. Collaborating closely with firmware developers and hardware engineers is essential to diagnose issues efficiently and ensure thorough coverage, especially given the resource constraints that embedded devices often present.

What are Embedded Quality Assurance Engineers?

Embedded Quality Assurance Engineers are professionals who ensure the quality and functionality of embedded systems—specialized computing systems that are part of larger devices, such as automotive controls, medical devices, or consumer electronics. Their job involves designing and executing tests to find software and hardware defects, verifying compliance with standards, and collaborating closely with developers during the product lifecycle. We are looking for a proficient Coder (part-time work from home) to help advance AI development. As a member of DataAnnotation’s coding team, you’ll be part of a growing community of over 100,000 professionals — including front-end, back-end, full-stack, machine learning, and other engineers — who are driving real-world impact in AI development.

Our platform offers an engaging blend of flexibility and challenge: you’ll work closely with state-of-the-art AI models to take on programming tasks that include creating and solving challenging coding problems, building beautiful apps with rich functionality, and synthesizing insights through data analysis and visualization. Your work directly contributes to refining intelligent systems that learn, adapt, and evolve. Some team members fit this work alongside a full-time role, while others treat it as their primary focus, choosing projects and schedules that align with their availability and goals.

To get started, once you sign up for an account, you'll take a short assessment (this serves as our version of an interview). If you pass that assessment, you’ll receive an email confirmation, and paid work will become available to you through our platform.

  • You can work on your own schedule
  • Projects are paid hourly starting at $50-75+/hr, with bonuses on high-quality and high-volume work

Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate the quality produced by AI models for correctness and performance

Qualifications:

  • Fluency in English (native or bilingual level)
  • Detail-oriented
  • Experience with algorithms, data structures, and debugging workflows
  • A current, in progress, or completed Bachelor's is preferred but not required

Note: Payment is made via PayPal. We will never ask for any money from you. PayPal will handle any currency conversions from USD.
