Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Embalmer to join Batchelor Bros. in Philadelphia. The ideal candidate will have hands-on embalming experience, strong restorative and preparation skills, and the ability to provide professional, compassionate service to families during difficult times.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform embalming and preparation of deceased individuals in accordance with applicable regulations and professional standards.
  • Conduct thorough sanitation, disinfection, and preparation procedures.
  • Perform restorative work and cosmetology to achieve a natural and respectful presentation.
  • Prepare individuals for viewings, visitations, funerals, and other services.
  • Apply appropriate embalming techniques based on the condition of the deceased.
  • Demonstrate cultural awareness and sensitivity when preparing individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Communicate professionally with funeral directors, families, and other staff members.
  • Maintain accurate embalming and preparation records.
  • Follow OSHA, health, safety, and funeral service regulations.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the preparation room and equipment.
  • Handle remains with dignity, respect, and confidentiality at all times.
  • Assist with other funeral home duties as needed.


Required Qualifications

  • Previous professional experience as an Embalmer.
  • Valid Pennsylvania Funeral Director/Embalmer license or eligibility to practice in Pennsylvania, as applicable.
  • Strong knowledge of embalming procedures and restorative techniques.
  • Experience preparing individuals for open-casket viewing.
  • Strong attention to detail and professionalism.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a funeral service team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive situations with compassion and discretion.
  • Must be available to start ASAP.
