Location: Washington, D.C. or remote

Working within a pod, Senior Digital Strategists provide advanced support to client email programs, as well as some basic client leadership. This job is an opportunity to learn how to manage client email programs, and to hone more advanced skills in the area of email copywriting and creative development, production, reporting, and client management. Senior Digital Strategists typically report to Managing Digital Strategists.ย 

This role is a part of the bargaining unit.

Job Responsibilities;

  • Oversees the email content creation processย 
    • Writes content for emails and landing pages (with little supervision)ย 
      • Can delegate the writing process to more junior podmates; subsequently oversees their work, providing guidance and feedback as neededย 
    • Makes sure email content aligns with client voices and comports with best practicesย 
    • Uses effective theories of change in their creativeย 
      • Ensures teammates are also using effective theories of changeย 
  • Oversees the content reviewing, revising, editing, and approval process
    • Collaborates with podmates and clients to get content reviewed, edited, and approvedย 
      • Can delegate this process to more junior podmates; subsequently oversees their work, providing guidance and feedback as needed.ย 
  • Oversees the email production processย 
    • ย Codes, produces, targets, and launches emails (with little supervision and few to no mistakes)ย 
      • Can delegate the email production process to more junior podmates; subsequently oversees their work, providing guidance and feedback as needed.
  • Can leverage intermediate HTML, CSS, and SQL knowledgeย

    • Can own parts of client meetingsย 
  • Frequently contributes ideas to email content calendarsย 
    • Helps build out those calendarsย 
    • Updates calendars as neededย 
  • Often reviews peer work for accuracy, functionality, and alignment with best practicesย 
    • Includes proofing test emailsย 
  • Assists with helping onboard new clientsย 
    • Helps stand up new CRM and ActBlue instancesย 
  • Sometimes contributes to new business proposalsย

Requirements

  • 2+ years of relevant experience in email fundraising (or similar)ย 
  • Mastery of 3+ common CRMs or fundraising platforms (ActionKit, ActBlue, ActionNetwork, EveryAction, etc.)ย 
  • Mastery of email writing for fundraisingย 
  • Proficiency in HTML and CSS as needed to run major email programsย 
  • Able to manage large clients unassistedย 
  • Creative writing chopsย 
  • Enthusiasm for data and testing fundraising contentย 
  • A desire to play a role in fundraising for major political campaigns, nonprofits, and causesย 
  • Attention to detail

Strongly Preferred but Not Required:

  • Agency or campaign experience
  • Experience working in email and digital strategy
  • Knowledge of different CRMs (Action Kit, BSD, Action Network, NGP, etc.)
