Job description

The Supervisor Environmental Services is responsible for the routine, daily housekeeping functions and staff. Proper distribution and completion of assignments, conducts routine audits and inspections to ensure standards of cleaning and sanitizing are being met, and policies, procedures and safe work practices are being followed at all times. Responsible for training staff on policies and procedures, ensures required competencies are met.
Requirements:
  • High School diploma or equivalent required, Associate's degree preferred.
  • Two (2) years' environmental services experience in a healthcare setting required.
  • One (1) year of supervisory experience preferred.

Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for the routine, daily housekeeping functions and staff.
  • Proper distribution and completion of assignments, conducts routine audits and inspections to ensure standards of cleaning and sanitizing are being met, and policies, procedures and safe work practices are being followed at all times.
  • Provides quality services on a daily basis, in accordance with all applicable federal, state and regulatory agencies, Department of Environmental Conservation, Joint Commission, OSHA standards, and health department inspections.
  • Assists in implementing and maintaining Quality Control and Hazardous Waste program as appropriate; maintains appropriate records, documentation, and audits.
  • Conduct routine inspections of buildings to ensure appropriate cleaning and maintenance is being completed, provides guidelines to determine acceptable levels of cleanliness. Monitor and participate in inspections and assist inspectors and surveyors as needed. Monitor and inspect equipment to ensure it is maintained in clean condition and good repair.
  • Adhere and ensure staff adheres to the legal, safety, health, fire, and sanitation codes, by being familiar with fire, safety, and disaster plans.
  • Recommend policies and procedures to improve housekeeping operations.
  • Trains with employees in proper housekeeping procedures to ensure compliance with established policies and procedures. In addition, work closely with and motivate environmental services staff to ensure work is performed properly and associates are following schedules (duty lists).
  • Assists with recruitment and retention activities, performance procedures and disciplinary actions.
  • Adheres to the Making Ellis Exceptional Standards, and initiate, promote, and support change initiatives.
  • Participates in the annual Ellis Medicine employee survey and participates in the developing action plans as needed.
  • Maintain acceptable HACAPS survey scores, assists in developing improvement plan to ensure patients' care quality, outcome and customer satisfaction.
  • Assume responsibility for the department in the absence of the Environmental Services Manager.
  • Perform administrative functions as needed and requested.

Salary Range: $20.21-29.31 /hour Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
