The Sturgeon Bay School District is currently accepting applications for a full-time English Language Learner (ELL) coordinator/teacher for the 2026-2027 school year.
Job Summary: The coordinator/teacher is responsible for providing direct and indirect ELL assistance to staff on instruction and assessment of Limited English Proficient (LEP) students. The ELL coordinator/teacher will also be responsible for program coordination, ILP's management, and communication between our schools and students' parents.
Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Education from an accredited university, Elementary or Secondary Educators license, and a 395 English as a Second Language license. Preference to candidates who previously worked as an ELL Coordinator with three years or more successful classroom experience at the district level.
Abilities: The candidate must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and directly assist teachers in applying differentiation and support strategies. Candidates who have experience in curriculum, assessment, and instructional methods are preferrred.
Full Time Position Start Date: August 18, 2026
Job Duties Include:
• Collaborate with staff and build capacity among teaching staff in understanding and supporting EL instructional practices within their classrooms.
• Share and implement instructional strategies and resources to increase English proficiency for ELL students.
• Engage students in learning by using a variety of instructional strategies that meet individual learning needs.
• Support students in a blended Stand-Alone ESL/ELD and Integrated ESL model.
• Evaluate the instructional needs of students and communicate with families.
• Facilitate the administration of WIDA screener and ACCESS tests.
• Partner with staff to create Individualized Language Plans to meet the needs of ELL students.
• Maintain accurate cumulative files and communicate changes.
• Participate in ongoing professional development, staff, inservice, and planning meetings.
• Apply WIDA English Language Standards Framework, 2020 Edition K-12 and Wisconsin English Learner Policy Handbook
• Lead an ELL Team at each building.
• Connect ELL families with school and community events.
• Related duties as assigned.
