Job description

Eligibility Technician

This recruitment is being held to establish an open eligible list to fill current and future Eligibility Technician positions within Social Services Agency. The eligible list established may be used to fill positions in similar and/or lower classifications within the County of Orange.

The County of Orange Social Services Agency is seeking qualified candidates to fill current and future Eligibility Technician vacancies. The Eligibility Technician positions will be assigned to any of the following programs:

  • CalFresh (formerly known as Food Stamps)
  • CalWORKs
  • Cash Assistance Program for Immigrants (CAPI)
  • General Relief (GR)
  • Medi-Cal (Affordable Care Act)
  • Foster Care
  • In Home Supportive Services

Eligibility Technicians may be placed in Anaheim, Brea, Garden Grove, Laguna Hills, Orange, Santa Ana or at temporary mobile/outreach locations.

In order to be successful for this position, candidates must demonstrate knowledge and/or experience in the following:

  • It is required that new Eligibility Technicians (ETs) complete mandatory training in a classroom setting. Both work assignment and schedule will be determined based on the needs of the department.

    Candidates will be required to undergo a background clearance check and must successfully clear prior to the start of their employment. All employment offers are contingent upon successful completion of a background check.

    Human Resource Services (HRS) screens all applications to identify the qualified candidates for the position based on the skills required to meet the needs of the County. After the initial screening, the qualified candidates will be referred to the next step and notified of all further procedures applicable to their status in the competition.

    The County is committed to providing a mechanism to give preferential consideration in the employment process to veterans and their eligible spouses and will provide eligible participants the opportunity to receive interviews in the selection process for employment and paid internship openings.
