Elevator Service Manager – Independent Elevator Company

Location: Yonkers / Bronx, NY Employment Type: Full‑Time Industry: Commercial Elevator Service, Repair, Modernization & Maintenance

Position Overview

An established independent elevator company serving the Yonkers/Bronx market is seeking an experienced Elevator Service Manager to oversee daily service operations, manage field technicians, support customer relationships, and ensure safe, reliable elevator performance across a mixed commercial portfolio.

This role requires strong leadership, technical knowledge of elevator systems, and the ability to manage customer expectations while driving service quality and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee daily service operations for assigned routes in the Yonkers/Bronx region.

  • Manage, coach, and support elevator mechanics and helpers; ensure proper staffing and scheduling.

  • Respond to escalated service issues, callbacks, and customer concerns with urgency and professionalism.

  • Review service tickets, maintenance logs, and repair recommendations for accuracy and completeness.

  • Coordinate with dispatch, repair teams, and modernization teams to prioritize work and minimize downtime.

  • Conduct site visits, ride‑alongs, and quality audits to ensure safety and performance standards are met.

  • Maintain strong relationships with building owners, property managers, and facility teams.

  • Ensure compliance with NYC DOB, ASME A17.1, OSHA, and company safety protocols.

  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and parts planning for service operations.

  • Track KPIs including response times, callbacks, route performance, and customer satisfaction.

  • Participate in after‑hours support rotation as needed.

Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in the elevator industry (service, repair, or field operations).

  • Prior leadership or supervisory experience strongly preferred.

  • Strong understanding of traction and hydraulic elevator systems.

  • Ability to read wiring diagrams, technical manuals, and DOB documentation.

  • Excellent communication and customer‑service skills.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

  • Knowledge of NYC DOB requirements, safety codes, and compliance standards.

  • Valid driver’s license; ability to travel between job sites in the Bronx/Yonkers area.

Preferred Experience
  • Background with independent elevator companies and non‑proprietary equipment (GAL, MCE, Motion, SmartRise).

  • Experience managing commercial routes, mid‑rise/high‑rise buildings, and mixed portfolios.

  • Familiarity with service contract management and customer retention strategies.
