Job description

The South Portland School Department is looking for an outstanding educator and leader to serve as the Assistant Principal at Skillin School, a socioeconomically, linguistically, and racially diverse K-4 elementary school. Ideal candidates will have the desire and experience to lead PBIS and MTSS work, familiarity with trauma-informed practices, and experience using restorative practices. Excellent previous classroom teaching experience, administration and leadership experience, and experience managing student behavior are strongly preferred. The ideal candidate will be skilled at using student data to inform programming as well as leading staff through building positive connections and productive meeting facilitation. Significant experience communicating with and working with diverse families in accessible ways preferred. Above all, we are looking for a candidate who has the drive and enthusiasm to work collaboratively with staff, who is flexible and focused on problem solving, and is positive.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, collaboration, and management skills required.
