Position Purpose
Under the general supervision of the Building Principal, the Elementary Teacher (K - 5) fosters student success and growth in academic, social, and interpersonal skills. This position implements division-approved curriculum, utilizes data-driven instruction, and creates a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment. The teacher monitors and communicates student progress while supporting the diverse needs of all learners.
Essential Functions
- Implements division-approved elementary curriculum aligned with school and state standards.
- Creates a safe, supportive, and engaging classroom environment conducive to learning.
- Plans and delivers effective, standards-based instruction using a variety of instructional strategies.
- Develops lesson plans and instructional materials that maximize student engagement and instructional time.
- Uses ongoing assessment data to inform instruction and differentiate learning to meet individual student needs, including those with disabilities and diverse learning styles.
- Provides small group and individualized instruction as needed.
- Promotes responsible citizenship, positive behavior, and social-emotional development.
- Maintains accurate records of student attendance, achievement, and progress in accordance with division procedures and state requirements.
- Communicates regularly and effectively with students, families, and school staff regarding student progress and expectations.
- Collaborates with grade-level teams and other staff to support student achievement and school initiatives.
- Participates in professional development and applies best practices in instruction.
- Maintains appropriate classroom management aligned with division policies and expectations.
- Supervises students during instructional and non-instructional times, including transitions and school-related activities.
- Administers division and state assessments in accordance with testing guidelines.
Additional Duties
Performs other duties as assigned by the Principal or designated administrators.

Qualifications Profile
Certification/License:
- Must hold or be eligible for a Virginia Department of Education teaching license with an endorsement in Elementary Education (K 5)
Education:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Elementary Education or a related field
- Master's degree preferred
Experience:
- Prior teaching experience at the elementary level preferred
