The Kodiak Island Borough School District has the following vacancies for the 2025-2026 school year:
AIDE II- Title VI Indian Education-
Location: Main Elementary, Kodiak, Alaska
Hours: 6.5 hrs/day, 5 days/week / 9 months
Salary: Entry Range 12, Step 1: $19.97 per hour
GRANT FUNDED- 1 YEAR ONLY
Position Summary: The Aide II works as an assistant to the regular classroom and vocational education classrooms. Performs aide duties working with students on a one-to-one and/or group basis who are eligible as designed by the current year grant.
Qualifications:
1. Ability to work well with public, students, staff, and parents .
2. Ability to carry out tasks assigned by the teacher/supervisor.
3. High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
4. Ability to maintain confidentiality of students, staff, school business, materials, and information.
5. Ability to safely, regularly lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
6. Ability to word process and manage student data.
Responsibilities:
1. Identify project eligible students through student records, project coordinator, teacher or administrator referral.
2. Assist in testing students, monitoring student progress and tutoring individuals that are in the program.
3. Assist with providing information to project eligible students and graduates concerning extracurricular and academic opportunities, post-secondary career and schooling options, and scholarships and apprenticeships.
4. Assist with chaperoning students at conferences.
5. Coordinate the scheduling of speakers and instructors.
6. Distribute, collect and assist in correcting materials, and assist in instructional record keeping tasks.
7. May include independent instruction or monitoring of groups or individual students in systems that the aide has received training in, under the close supervision of the teacher.
8. Maintain confidentiality of students, staff, school business, materials and information.
9.Other duties as assigned from time to time.
