Job description

Senior Roadway Engineer
Full-Time | Flex
Tampa, FL
SN is honored to assist Element Engineering Group in their search for an experienced Senior Roadway Engineer to join their team. Tasks will include the development of typical section packages, pavement design packagers, design variations/exceptions, project documentation, and a wide variety of other engineering related tasks for Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), and other local agency projects. Projects are diverse and range from resurfacing and reconstruction projects to sidewalk additions.

IDEAL CANDIDATE
The ideal candidate will have their PE with the State of Florida and have experience with FDOT. Candidates with experience with other state transportation departments and the ability to obtain licensing in Florida will be considered. Local agency experience is a must. Experience with transportation engineering standards, including the FDOT Design Manual and FDOT Standard Plans is also required.
Position Details
Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee and perform engineering design including geometric alignments, profiles, cross sections, and MOT.
  • Develop Typical Section Packages, Pavement Designs, and Design Variations /Exceptions.
  • Oversee and produce plans using MicroStation / Corridor Modeling / 3D Modeling
  • Mentor entry-level staff.
  • Meet with clients and attend public meetings, as necessary.
  • Project Management experience, taking a lead role in project oversight. Direct other engineers and/or technicians assigned to project.
  • Maintain project schedules and prepares status updates while monitoring scope of work to ensure deliverables completed at expected quality and within budget and schedule.

Qualifications & Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or similar field required.
  • Professional Engineer registered in Florida or registration with another state and ability to obtain FL registration within six months.
  • Knowledge of roadway engineering standards including the Highway Safety Manual, FDOT Design Manual, Florida Greenbook, FDOT Standard Plans, AASHTO Policy on Geometric Design of Highways and Streets (Green Book) and the Florida Manual on Uniform Traffic Studies.
  • Strong knowledge of FDOT plans preparation and standards.
  • Experienced in MicroStation/GEOPAK/Open Roads.
  • Verbal communication and technical writing skills.
  • Ability to work for any employer in the United States.
