Job description

Position Summary

The Staging and Testing Technician is responsible for staging, configuring, testing, troubleshooting, repairing, and preparing parking access and revenue control equipment and related systems for deployment. This position plays an important role in ensuring equipment is properly configured, tested, documented, and ready for successful customer installation.

The position primarily operates within the warehouse and staging and testing environment while also providing periodic field support for equipment installations, preventative maintenance, service calls, repairs, system troubleshooting, and other customer support activities.

The Staging and Testing Technician works closely with Operations, Project Management, technical teams, and other internal departments to support project readiness and maintain DESIGNA's standards for equipment quality and reliability.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Stage and configure parking equipment, hardware, and system components prior to deployment.
  • Perform functional testing and quality assurance checks on equipment and related systems.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose hardware, software, electrical, and network-related issues.
  • Complete repairs and refurbishment work on returned, damaged, or malfunctioning equipment.
  • Maintain accurate staging and testing documentation, equipment records, and inventory tracking.
  • Assist with equipment preparation, packaging, and shipment coordination.
  • Support warehouse and other in-house operational activities as assigned.
  • Coordinate with Operations, Project Management, and technical teams to ensure equipment and systems are prepared according to project requirements and timelines.
  • Perform field technician duties approximately one day per week or as operationally required, which may include:
    • Equipment installations
    • Preventative maintenance services
    • Service calls and repairs
    • System troubleshooting
    • Customer support activities
  • Ensure compliance with all company safety policies, procedures, and established work practices.
  • Maintain and safely operate the assigned company shop vehicle in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Travel periodically to customer and project sites as required for installation, service, and technical support.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned based on operational and business needs.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting abilities.
  • Ability to diagnose equipment and system-related problems and identify appropriate solutions.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documentation, schematics, diagrams, and installation instructions.

  • Experience with equipment staging, configuration, testing, installation, maintenance, or repair.
  • Experience working in a warehouse, technical service, field service, or equipment deployment environment.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift, carry, and move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, reach, and work with tools and equipment for extended periods.
  • Ability to safely perform hands-on equipment installation, testing, maintenance, and repair activities.
  • Ability to travel to customer and project sites as required.
  • Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle.

Work Environment

  • Work is primarily performed in a staging, testing, and warehouse environment.
  • Routine lifting, carrying, handling, and movement of equipment may be required.
  • Periodic fieldwork at customer and project locations is required for installations, service, and technical support.
  • The position may require overtime, evening, weekend, or travel-based work depending on project and operational requirements.
