Job description

Job Description Summary
The Lead Electrical Engineer for MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) Body Coils will design and implement electrical designs to optimize performance, cost, manufacturability, reliability, and serviceability of RF Coil and Transmit Chain components for MRI systems. This engineer would develop new component and product designs, as well as own and maintain existing installed base products. The Electrical Engineer understands the function and design of electrical circuits, printed circuit boards, antennas, and RF electronics.
Job Description
Responsibilities:
  • Designing high power and low power electrical components and interconnects for RF body coils used in MRI systems.
  • Design and analysis of RF transmit/receive components and Printed Circuit Board components (birdcage antenna, circuit boards, etc.)
  • Use of RF and EM (electromagnetic) simulation/ design tools to ensure robust and efficient product design.
  • Use of Printed Circuit Board software to design circuit boards.
  • Engaging in all phases of new product development, including concept, architecture, documentation, design, prototype, test, product cost, supplier interfaces, manufacturing introduction and service support.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure product performance, quality and reliability.
  • Participate and lead prototype build activities to ensure compliance with design intent. Recommend design experiments and tests as required to draw conclusions and solutions.
  • Solve complex and ambiguous problems. Perform troubleshooting (at bench level and system level) encompassing multiple variables to achieve root cause analysis and problem resolution. Recommend designs and conduct experiments and diagnostic tests, as required, to draw conclusions and solutions.
  • Support Field issues through troubleshooting and root cause investigation for problem resolution.
  • Develop robust designs for new or existing products that can be produced economically and according to established project timelines.
  • Provide creative solutions to unstructured product and system design issues from both factory and field.

Qualifications:
  • BS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
  • Engineering experience: 2-5 years

Desired Characteristics:
  • Demonstrated experience in RF design or printed circuit board design
  • Experience with numerical analysis tools and optimization methods
  • Good understanding of Magnetic Resonance Imaging fundamentals, RF Coil design and electromagnetics.
  • Ability to work with cross-functional, multidisciplinary teams
  • Leadership, teamwork, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
