Job description

Eaton's Aerospace division is currently seeking a Electronics Technician- 1st Shift at our Grand Rapids, MI facility! This role aligns to a 1st shift schedule, with core hours between 7am - 3:30pm Monday - Friday.
The hourly rate for this position is $29 per hour.

What you'll do:
The Electronics Technician is responsible for assembling, testing, repairing, and troubleshooting electronic components and printed circuit boards, as specified in applicable documents, with minimal supervision, for both the OE and Repairs Value Stream.
This position is classified as a safety-sensitive role under applicable U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations. As a condition of employment, candidates must successfully complete a DOT-required pre-employment drug test.
Individuals hired into this role remain subject to ongoing drug and/or alcohol testing, including random testing, in accordance with federal regulations. Eaton maintains a drug- and alcohol-free workplace and expects all applicants to understand and comply with these requirements.
In this function you will:
• Assemble and test electronic assemblies to scheduled delivery dates. Prioritize work to ensure business goals are met. Ensure activities are performed correctly with proper tooling and documentation being used. Requires little to no supervision.
• Use test equipment to perform in-process testing.
• Perform visual inspection, identify any defective items, and handle according to established procedures.
• Assist in process improvements.
• Support engineering on new production manufacturability.
• Adhere to operational procedures and ensure tooling is in calibration before use.
• Maintain clean and safe work area. Adhere to all safety rules and regulations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Be reassigned to cover workload in other areas of production in the absence of electronic work, or as necessary.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
• Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent from an accredited institution
• Must have 1 of the following:
o Associates Degree in an Electronics focused Technical Field
o Equivalent of six (6) years in assembly, testing, and troubleshooting of electronic assemblies/printed circuit boards
o IPC-7711 certification (active or expired)
• 3 years of experience with through-hole, wire and terminal, and surface mount soldering
• Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and within the future.
• This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
• No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates within a 50-mile radius of Grand Rapids, Michigan will be considered. Active-Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.
Preferred:
• Working knowledge of fundamental electrical components (passive, linear, and logic)
• Ability to read wiring diagrams and electrical schematics
• Aerospace manufacturing experience preferred
• Previous Certification in IPC J-STD001 (active or expired)
• Prior experience preferred in IPC certifications: 7711, A610
Position Criteria:
• Participate in functional cross training within all major requirements of the assigned department and demonstrate willingness to support any area of the business.
• Ability to read, understand and follow product specifications, drawings, and work orders in English
• Working knowledge of shop test equipment and testing procedures.
• Know-how and ability to work with inspection gages, multi-meters, volt meters, force scales, torque wrenches, and electrical test equipment.
• Knowledge of fundamental electrical components and mechanical physics. Ability to identify wire by color code.
• Ability to cross train on a variety of hardware/sub-assemblies and test procedures.
• Position includes standing, bending, twisting and the capability to lift / move up to 40lbs.
• Solder certification will be provided.
