Electronic Engineer

RESPONSIBILITIES

The responsibilities of the Chief Electronic Engineer will include, but not be limited to the following:

  • Management of electronic department and technical responsible for all onboard electronic equipment and communication systems
  • Co-operate with ROW Management IT Director for IT issues
  • Co-operate with Chief Electrical Engineer on other issues
  • Be familiar with the Safety Management System and have a full understanding of his/her responsibilities in the Safety Organization per the Emergency Plan
  • Understands the companyโ€™s cyber security policies and ensures compliance by shipboard personnel
  • Identifies and works with appropriate personnel to address cyber security gaps identified by him/her or reported to him/her
  • Ensures team is following company standards and industry best practices as it relates to cyber security
  • Conforms to and champions companyโ€™s security awareness program
  • Recommends new processes or technologies to improve cyber security posture
  • Emergency radio communication systems (GMDSS)
  • Internal emergency and safety systems (GA, Fire Central, Fireman patrol system;Low Level Lightning, Talk-Back communication, CCTV system, Sound Powered
    Telephone system, Hospital/Trap/Toilet alarm system, Gangway Security system, Vingcard system, Door lock system)
  • Bridge radar & navigation systems including electronic equipment in lifeboats and tenders
  • Onboard satellite communication systems (C-band, Fleetband Iridium)
  • Internal communication systems (Telephone PBX/DECT, PA system, UHF system), Computer hardware (Servers, Workstations, LAN, Wireless etc.) and software
    (Exchange, Fidelio, InfoGenesis Amos4W, Bluetooth, Ships specific systems etc.)
  • Office equipment like copy machines, newspaper printer, DTP, etc.
  • TV broadcast with studio, Satellite TVRO and entertainment Sound & Light systems; All ships Audio & Video equipment (apartments, crew cabins, public rooms) and
    interactive TV system Marine Info system, Master Clock system; Golf equipment incl. simulators
  • Electronic Dep.โ€™s systems and staff โ€“ and to organize the staff during daily operation.
  • Ordering maintenance and spare parts for the Electronic Department.
  • Supervise administration of companies AMOS system
  • Emergency operator of GMDSS station, maintain and supervise required test of equipment as of SOLAS and all other applicable regulations
  • Provide assistance to the Hotel Department in ensuring that TV/Entertainment, Internet communication, telephone and fax services are available to all Residents & Guests
  • In charge of running TVRO (satellite TV) subscriptions and responsible for providing available TV channels in areas where the vessel will be located
  • Assist residentsโ€™ purchase of Audio/Video Equipment, IT equipment and other technical systems for their apartments
  • Daily report of all problems to the Chief Engineer and advice if shore assistance is needed. He is to work in close cooperation with shore-side for all Computer, Telephone and Communication Satellite issues
  • Report to Staff Captain for onboard safety and emergency communication systems

  • It is the responsibility of every crewmember to perform duties according to the Superior Officerโ€™s instruction; the work should be carried out in a safe and professional manner, in order to keep the shipโ€™s equipment at the highest level of safe operating condition
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Diploma from recognized and approved Technical College or a Certificate from TechnicalVocational School or institution, in Electronic Engineering with specializing in one or more
    of the following areas: audio-video electronics, computer-microprocessor system electronics, communication electronics, maritime electronics or similar;
  • Relevant experience from one of the above mentioned areas, preferable from maritime electronics systems and environments
  • Trade Certificate as Service Electronic Technician, Radio-TV Repairman, graduatedElectronic Engineer or equivalent
  • Completed GOC-course and relevant GMDSS certificate; relevant STCW2010 courses
PHYSICAL CONDITIONS
  • Able to work 7 days a week for a minimum period for extended period of time.
  • While performing the essential functions of this job, all team members are required to stand; walk long distances on the ship; use hands to touch, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk, hear, taste and smell. All vessel positions require repetitive motion of bending, climbing, going up and down stairs and lifting up to 23 kilograms.
  • This job requires specific vision abilities to include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • All team members must be physically able to participate in emergency life saving procedures and drills. All vessel positions require full use and range of arms and legs as well as full visual, verbal and hearing abilities to receive and give instructions in the event of an emergency including the lowering of lifeboats.
  • Assist with zodiac landings, Marina days and Expeditions when required.
  • Work within different temperature changesโ€”indoors to outdoors.
  • Able to pass basic safety course.
