Job description

Corporate Buyer

This role will focus primarily on Commodity Management activities and will work closely with the Corporate Commodity Management team and Supply Chain groups at Ducommun Performance Centers.

Starting as a hardware supply store during the California Gold Rush and eventually assisted in the birth of the aerospace industry in Southern California by providing aircraft aluminum to early aerospace pioneers like Lindbergh, Douglas and Lockheed.

Today Ducommun is a global provider of innovative manufacturing solutions for customers in the aerospace, defense and industrial markets. We specialize in electronic and structural systems, producing complex products and components for commercial aircraft platforms, mission-critical military and space programs, and sophisticated industrial applications.

Job Summary

  • Maintain and manage existing supply agreements with key suppliers, assist in negotiating price, quality, and delivery expectations on both short-term and longer-term agreements.
  • Manage direct engagement with suppliers and internal functional teams to drive implementation of the supply strategy.
  • Support escalated supplier issues in terms of delivery, quality, cost and SCOPQ claims by working with performance center supply chain teams and lead issue resolution.
  • Lead supplier development along with commodity strategy to have complete documents including but not limited to Ducommun NDA, Terms and Conditions, support commodity manager in LTA preparation and negotiation.
  • Manage the sourcing process through detail sourcing analysis, evaluation, negotiation, and award with support and guidance with commodity manager.
  • Create, maintain and benchmark commodity procurement data, benchmark commodity market development information to drive improvement in commodity management.
  • Responsible for protecting and maintaining all Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) appropriately to prevent unauthorized access, dissemination, or use of this information, documentation, or products; including authorized and proper use of such information in regard to marking, storing, transmitting, and destruction of data.
  • Support all visitors and security policies to protect ITAR/EAR/CMMC/CUI information, documents, products, etc. from unauthorized access by informing management immediately of any concerns.
  • Responsible for the proper handling and management of hazardous waste generated in employee’s work area.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Regular and acceptable attendance is an essential function of this job.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail,with the ability to manage multiple suppliers, agreements, projects, and competing priorities.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with Corporate Commodity Management and Supply Chain teams.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to work effectively across organizational levels and with external suppliers.
  • Demonstrated ability to negotiate and manage supplier agreements, pricing, quality, delivery, and commercial terms.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate cost, market trends, supplier performance, and sourcing data to support procurement decisions.
  • Knowledge of engineering, production and process techniques such as lean and continuous Improvement.
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in Excel, Power BI, Power Point, MS word and Systems Database/Query Capability.
Required Experience and Education
  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience, in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering or other related degree.
  • 5 years of experience in strategic sourcing or related field.
  • Aerospace or Electronic Component manufacturing experience desired.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in Procurement and Aerospace regulations.
  • Previous experience in high-mix and low volume manufacturing business.
Licenses, Certifications, etc.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification preferred.

Base Compensation: USD 75,000.00 - 95,000.00 PaidSalaried
