Electrician Apprentice

Location: Houston, TX 77029

Pay: $25.00โ€“$27.00 per hour, DOE

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Electrician Apprentice to join our manufacturing team. The Electrician Apprentice will assist with the installation, assembly, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical systems and components within a manufacturing environment.

This position requires the ability to read blueprints and piping and instrumentation diagrams (P amp;IDs), perform electrical wiring and terminations, bend conduit, and work safely with hand, power, and pneumatic tools. Responsibilities will grow as the apprentice develops technical skills and experience.

The successful candidate must follow all company safety requirements and applicable OSHA standards, particularly those related to electrical work and workplace hazards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform mechanical and electrical assembly and sub-assembly processes using hand tools, electric tools, and pneumatic tools.

  • Read and interpret electrical blueprints, schematics, and P amp;IDs.

  • Bend and install electrical conduit.

  • Pull and route electrical wire and cable.

  • Perform low-voltage (LV) wiring and terminations.

  • Perform medium-voltage (MV) wiring and terminations as directed and within applicable qualifications.

  • Perform control wiring and motor control center (MCC) wiring.

  • Assist with installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical systems.

  • Assist with diagnosing electrical problems and identifying defective components or wiring.

  • Report defective materials, damaged components, or questionable conditions to the department supervisor.

  • Complete assigned work according to the manufacturing schedule with minimal supervision.

  • Maintain work areas, tools, and equipment in a clean and orderly condition.

  • Follow all prescribed safety procedures and applicable OSHA requirements.

  • Properly use required personal protective equipment (PPE).

  • Conduct safety checks and immediately report unsafe conditions or electrical hazards to supervision.

  • Participate in required safety training and meetings.

  • Maintain a clean and organized work area and follow 5S principles.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Required Skills amp; Qualifications
  • Ability to follow established methods, procedures, drawings, and work instructions.

  • Familiarity with electrical assembly and measuring tools.

  • Ability to interpret visual aids, electrical drawings, and schematics.

  • Ability to perform basic shop mathematics and measurements.

  • Ability to read blueprints and piping and instrumentation drawings.

  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.

  • Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Education amp; Training
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.

  • Current Electrician Apprentice License required.

Minimum Requirements
  • 2โ€“4 years of experience as a licensed Electrician Apprentice.

  • Minimum 3 months of related factory/manufacturing experience.

  • Current Electrician Apprentice License.

  • Familiarity with electrical safety protocols and procedures.

  • Ability to safely work with electrical systems, wiring, conduit, and related equipment.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience installing rigid insulation is a plus.

Physical Requirements amp; Work Environment

This position is performed primarily in a manufacturing/shop environment. The employee may be required to work at different workstations or move between work areas based on production needs.

The Electrician Apprentice must be able to:

  • Stand for extended periods, up to 10 hours per day with a lunch break, and up to 6 days per week as required.

  • Regularly sit or stand, bend, reach, and move throughout the work area.

  • Frequently move materials weighing up to 50 pounds.

  • Work in a non-air-conditioned manufacturing environment.

  • Work around machinery, electrical equipment, tools, and industrial materials.

  • Maintain adequate hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity for electrical assembly and installation tasks.

  • Safely perform work requiring bending, reaching, lifting, and repetitive movements.

Safety amp; PPE

Safety is a critical responsibility of this position. All employees are expected to follow company safety policies, OSHA requirements, and applicable electrical safety procedures.

Required PPE includes:

  • Safety glasses

  • Steel-toe boots

  • Additional PPE as required by the specific task or work area

Hearing protection/earplugs are recommended and may be required in designated areas.

Compensation

$25.00โ€“$27.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.

Pay will be determined based on relevant electrical apprenticeship experience, technical skills, licensing, training, and qualifications.
