Job description

Quanex is looking for a Controls Engineer to join our team located onsite in Rice Lake, WI.

Summary: The Controls Engineer will be responsible for the design, development, and implementation of control systems for manufacturing processes and equipment. This role involves working with cross-functional teams to improve the efficiency, reliability, and safety of our manufacturing operations. The Controls Engineer will also support troubleshooting and maintenance activities, ensuring the optimal performance of control systems.

What Success Looks Like:

  • Design and develop control systems for manufacturing equipment, including PLC programming, HMI design, and electrical schematics.

  • Collaborate with production, maintenance, and engineering teams to identify and resolve control system issues.
  • Prepare documentation, including specifications, drawings, and manuals, for control systems.
  • Provide technical support and training to maintenance and production personnel on control systems.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance manufacturing processes and equipment performance.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards, and regulations, such as NEC, NFP 79, and UL508.
  • Manage project activities, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation, to ensure timely completion.

Your Credentials:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in control systems design and implementation, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in PLC programming, HMI design, and electrical schematic creation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Experience with CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks) is preferred.

The salary range for this position is $75k - $113k with bonus potential.
