JOB SUMMARY
We are hiring experienced Industrial Maintenance Technicians for a food ingredient manufacturing facility in Rock City, Illinois.
This position is ideal for a mechanically strong, self-motivated technician who can troubleshoot equipment independently. The facility relies heavily on pumps, motors, valves, piping systems, and process equipment rather than traditional conveyor or packaging equipment.
The Industrial Maintenance Technician will perform preventive, corrective, and emergency maintenance to improve equipment reliability, minimize downtime, and support safe and efficient production operations.
RESPONSIBILITIES
โข Troubleshoot and repair industrial production equipment and facility systems
โข Diagnose mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment problems
โข Maintain and repair pumps, motors, valves, piping, and process equipment
โข Respond quickly to equipment breakdowns to minimize production downtime
โข Perform scheduled preventive and corrective maintenance
โข Inspect motors, bearings, couplings, seals, and other rotating equipment
โข Use electrical meters and diagnostic tools to identify equipment failures
โข Read electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, technical manuals, and blueprints
โข Complete work orders and accurately document maintenance activities in the CMMS
โข Assist with equipment installations, upgrades, modifications, and improvement projects
โข Participate in root cause analysis for recurring equipment failures
โข Maintain tools, parts, and work areas in a clean, safe, and organized condition
โข Follow OSHA, food safety, sanitation, and plant safety procedures
โข Work closely with Production, Quality, and other maintenance team members
QUALIFICATIONS
โข High school diploma or GED required
โข At least two years of industrial or manufacturing maintenance experience preferred
โข Strong mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills
โข Experience maintaining industrial pumps and electric motors
โข Basic knowledge of electrical systems, motor controls, and control panels
โข Ability to troubleshoot equipment independently and determine the cause of failures
โข Working knowledge of preventive maintenance practices
โข Ability to read schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals
โข Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
โข Ability to work independently and as part of a team
โข Comfortable working in a food manufacturing or regulated production environment
โข Ability to perform physically demanding work and lift equipment as required
โข Willingness to work either 2nd or 3rd shift
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
โข Electrical troubleshooting
โข Three-phase motors and motor controls
โข Variable frequency drives, or VFDs
โข Programmable logic controllers, or PLCs
โข Pneumatic and hydraulic systems
โข Pumps, valves, seals, bearings, and rotating equipment
โข Computerized Maintenance Management Systems, or CMMS
โข Food, beverage, dairy, ingredient, chemical, or process manufacturing
โข Technical certificate or associate degree in industrial maintenance, electrical technology, mechatronics, or a related field
IDEAL CANDIDATE
The ideal candidate is dependable, self-motivated, mechanically inclined, and able to troubleshoot equipment without constant supervision. Electrical experience is a plus, but strong mechanical ability, initiative, and independent problem-solving skills are the highest priorities.
