Job description


Job Title: Sprinkler Designer
Location: Chantilly, VA
Job Duties: Design the following 2D and 3D Fire sprinkler systems to ensure compliance with project specifications, all applicable NFPA standards and local codes: new construction, mixed use buildings, standpipe systems, fire pumps. Coordinate sprinkler system design using 3D modeling in new and existing structures with architects and other MEP trades. Assist design trainees with field surveys to verify existing conditions, and perform field surveys throughout construction to ensure accurate installation of projects. Prepare shop drawings, hydraulic calculations, and material submittals for review by Architects, Engineers and Authority Having Jurisdiction. Compile stock lists and material requisitions for the installation of Fire Sprinkler systems along with installation prints.
Requirements: Fire Protection Engineering Technology Diploma in Fire Protection Engineering Technology plus 6 months of experience as a Sprinkler Designer or a related occupation
Offered Salary: $58,968 per year

Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit for long periods. Employee will occasionally be required to bend, kneel, balance, lift <20lb, walk, stand, ascend/descend stairs, drive, twist, and reach above and below shoulders. Employee will frequently be required to drive and walk for periods.
Work Environment:
Employee will consistently be required to work indoors in an office setting, work alone and with other. Employees will occasionally be required to work outside, and be exposed to hot/cold temperatures, dust, fumes, chemicals, electrical hazards and noise. Employee will be occasionally required to wear all appropriate personal protective equipment, as required by company safety policies while visiting locations.
