How much do electrical pre apprenticeship jobs pay per hour?

As of Jun 12, 2026, the average hourly pay for electrical pre apprenticeship in the United States is $22.81, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $18.27 and $25.24 per hour, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What does a pre-apprentice electrician make?

A pre-apprentice electrician typically earns between minimum wage and $15 per hour, depending on the region and employer. This entry-level position often involves basic tasks and training while gaining experience in electrical work and safety procedures.

What does an electrical pre-apprentice do?

An electrical pre-apprentice assists licensed electricians by performing basic tasks such as carrying tools, preparing work sites, and learning electrical systems. They gain hands-on experience with wiring, safety procedures, and industry tools while developing foundational skills for a future apprenticeship.

Can you make $100,000 a year as an electrician?

Electrical pre-apprenticeships typically do not pay $100,000 annually, as wages increase with experience, certifications, and union or contractor employment. Journeymen electricians with several years of experience and specialized skills can earn around or above this amount, especially in high-demand areas or with overtime. Starting salaries are lower, but earnings grow significantly with career progression and additional qualifications.

How to get into electrical apprenticeship with no experience?

To enter an electrical pre-apprenticeship with no experience, applicants should focus on completing a high school diploma or equivalent, demonstrate interest in the trade, and consider taking introductory courses in electrical work or safety. Many programs accept candidates with minimal experience and provide on-the-job training, often requiring a valid driver's license and the ability to work in physically demanding environments.
