Job description

Job Summary:

Completes troubleshooting, repairs and rebuilds on engine products in a service workshop independently while coaching and developing less experienced technicians

Cummins is looking for a talented In-Shop 310T Diesel Technician / Truck & Coach Mechanic to join our team in Ottawa. Join a stable, team-oriented shop environment where you can grow your career and work with industry-leading equipment.

  • Day shift: 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM

Education, Licenses, Certifications: 
Apprentice Trained Engine Technician (Preferred)
Vocational diploma from relevant technical institution
Locally valid driving permit (Preferred)
This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations. 
Experience: 
Advanced level knowledge of and/or experience with engine products 
Experience providing technical advice and coaching to more junior technicians (preferred)

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Apply documented procedures and policies to perform diagnostics and complex repairs.
  • Perform preventative maintenance based on assessment of engine.
  • Complete required documentation, such as work completed documents, time sheets, warranty claims and quality forms, via handwritten or business system input screens.
  • Complete training in line with skill and business requirements.
  • Maintain work area and tools for cleanliness and proper operation.
  • Adhere to and ensures adherence of more junior technicians to all relevant Health, Safety & Environmental policies, procedures and legislation and reports any issues / incidents to their supervisor.
  • Ensure adherence to all relevant Health Safety & Environmental policies, procedures and legislation and reports any issues / incidents to site management and to their supervisor.

Diploma, Certification, license:

  • Red seal 310T certification is required for this role.
  • Locally valid driving permit
  • Clean driver's abstract
  • This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations. 

    Experience:

  • Good customer relation skills.
  • Diagnostic, electrical, chassis, and heavyduty engine experience is an asset.
  • Ability to read technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
  • Familiarity with OEM diagnostic software (e.g., INSITE).
  • Flexibility to attend service calls or support other locations as needed.
  • Advanced level knowledge of and/or experience with engine products.
