Launch your career with Intermountain Electronics through our 2026 Fall Pre-Apprenticeship Program, offered in partnership with Utah State University Eastern (USU Eastern).

This unique program combines the best aspects of an internship and an apprenticeship, allowing participants to gain hands-on industry experience while earning college credit-all with no prior experience required. 

Participants will choose one of two career paths:

  • Electrical Technicians 
  • Fabricators (Welding & Fabrication) 

Whether you're looking to explore a skilled trade or begin a long-term career, this program provides real-world experience, professional mentorship, and a direct pathway into one of Utah's fastest-growing industries.

Job Description

As a Pre-Apprentice, you will work alongside experienced professionals while developing the foundational skills needed for a successful career in manufacturing and skilled trades.

Depending on your selected career path, you will receive hands-on training in either Electrical or Fabrication while learning industry safety standards, quality expectations, manufacturing processes, and professional workplace skills.

Responsibilities include:

  • Learn from experienced mentors in a real manufacturing environment. 
  • Perform entry-level production and fabrication or electrical assembly tasks. 
  • Safely operate tools, equipment, and machinery after proper training. 
  • Follow company safety procedures and quality standards. 
  • Participate in on-the-job training and classroom instruction. 
  • Develop technical, problem-solving, and teamwork skills. 
  • Maintain professionalism, attendance, and a positive attitude throughout the program. 
  • Complete assigned projects and training objectives. 
Program Benefits
  • Paid Pre-Apprenticeship $14-$17 per hour

Typical Work Schedule

Monday - Friday: 6:00 AM - 3:30 PM (every other Friday off)

Requirements

Successful candidates will demonstrate a strong work ethic, a willingness to learn, and an interest in pursuing a career in the skilled trades. No prior electrical or fabrication experience is required.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age by the start of the program. (Exceptions made for those 16+ if they've graduated high school early)
  • Must have graduated from high school or possess a GED, or be on track to graduate prior to the program start. 
  • Must be accepted into the USU Eastern Pre-Apprenticeship Program and complete any required enrollment through USU Eastern. 
  • Must successfully complete Intermountain Electronics' pre-employment hiring process, including a background check and drug screen. 
  • Ability to read and understand basic instructions. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work well in a team environment. 
  • Demonstrate professionalism, reliability, and regular attendance. 
  • Demonstrate a positive attitude, willingness to learn, and the ability to accept coaching and constructive feedback. 
  • Ability to safely perform physical work, including standing for extended periods, lifting materials, bending, climbing stairs, and working in a manufacturing environment. 
  • Commitment to following all Intermountain Electronics safety policies and procedures.
