Summary of Job: As a Plumbing Pre-Apprentice, you will help Hoffmann Brothers’ Plumbing Division and Plumbing Professionals with a variety of essential tasks, while also learning more about the plumbing trade and best practices. This role requires performing physically demanding tasks including heavy lifting, bending, and twisting to maneuver materials. This role provides a path to becoming a Plumbing Professional here at Hoffmann Brothers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The Plumbing Pre-Apprentice position is fast paced and self-motivating and includes, but is not limited to the following responsibilities:

Parts Delivery:

  • Safely deliver materials and equipment to field professionals, ensuring timely and efficient service.
  • Load and unload new and used water heaters, ensuring proper handling and safety protocols.
  • Assist with the installation and removal of equipment and materials as needed.
  • Deliver ladders and equipment to job sites, providing on-site support for safety and operational needs.
  • Transport rock buckets, pallets, and other materials to designated locations.
  • Return unused or excess materials to vendors in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate materials and parts pickups, ensuring accurate and efficient retrieval.

Support:

  • Assist with the auditing and inventory of materials to ensure accuracy and availability.
  • Restock plumbing kits as required to maintain operational efficiency.
  • Deliver municipal permits, ensuring compliance with local regulations.
  • Retrieve materials ordered from vendors and organize them for easy access and staging.
  • Load rock cages with filled buckets, ensuring proper handling and preparation.
  • Place ordered materials into designated restock bins for plumbing professionals, ensuring timely and organized replenishment.

Driver Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the safe and efficient transportation of materials to designated locations, in compliance with all traffic laws and company regulations.
  • Maintain a high standard of vehicle cleanliness and ensure any problems are reported to the fleet department.
  • Uphold company policies and safety procedures during transit to ensure secure and timely deliveries.
  • Must be able to competently operate a standard size pickup truck

Qualifications:

  • Hard working, reliable, responsible, maintains a team-oriented attitude, and willing to learn. 
  • All employees of Hoffmann Brothers must consider safety as their primary job. General knowledge of safe working practices and federal/state OSHA requirements is required as applicable.

Physical Demands/Working Conditions:

To adequately perform the duties of this job, the employee is regularly and routinely required to sit, stand, walk, kneel, squat, stoop hands to finger, handle controls; hear, and talk. The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms. The employee must be able to climb ladders, work in hot and cold environments, and work in small crawl spaces. The employee must regularly lift and/or move 50lbs and up. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

The work environment can vary depending on the season and scope of work – employees are required to work outdoors throughout the seasons.  The work environment will subject employees to continual interruptions and changing priorities. Effective, consistent, and constant communication with customers, vendors, co-workers, and others is required.
