Job Title: Data Center Power Solutions Engineer / Sales Leader

Location: Roanoke, VA (Onsite)

Overview

Virginia Transformer is seeking a highly technical and commercially minded professional to support the growth of our data center business. This individual will play a critical role in positioning our transformer solutions within the evolving architecture of modern and next-generation data centers.

You will serve as a key interface between our engineering capabilities and the data center ecosystem—working directly with power distribution engineers, consultants, and end users to influence design, specification, and adoption of our solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Engagement & Market Development

  • Develop a deep understanding of transformer integration within data center single-line designs
  • Engage directly with power distribution engineers, consultants, and design firms across small, medium, and hyperscale data centers
  • Influence specifications and ensure Virginia Transformer solutions are incorporated into project designs

Sales & Business Development

  • Identify and develop opportunities within the data center market, including colocation, enterprise, and hyperscale segments
  • Build and manage relationships with key stakeholders including EPCs, engineers, and end users
  • Partner with internal sales and engineering teams to deliver tailored solutions

Industry Expertise & Thought Leadership

  • Stay current on trends in:
  • Data center architecture
  • Power distribution systems
  • Redundancy models (N+1, 2N, etc.)
  • Represent Virginia Transformer in industry forums, customer meetings, and technical discussions

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with engineering, product, and operations teams to align solutions with market needs
  • Provide feedback from the field to support product development and innovation

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field (preferred)
  • 7+ years of experience in:
  • Data center infrastructure
  • Power systems / electrical equipment
  • Or related technical sales / engineering roles
  • Strong understanding of:
  • Single-line diagrams
  • Power distribution systems
  • Medium and high voltage equipment

Preferred Experience

  • Experience working with:
  • Data center developers, operators, or EPC firms
  • Power distribution equipment (transformers, switchgear, UPS, etc.)
  • Existing relationships within the data center ecosystem
  • Ability to bridge technical engineering concepts with commercial strategy
