Electrical Plc Apprentice Jobs in Rochester, NY (NOW HIRING)

Location: Rochester, NY.

Schedule: (4) 12‑hour rotating shifts; (2) 12‑hour days (6am‑6pm); (2) 12‑hour nights (6pm‑6am). Four days off plus crossover time. 8% shift differential on every hour worked.

• Perform routine maintenance tasks with minimal supervision.
• Assist in troubleshooting and repairing equipment, seeking advice from senior team members when necessary.
• Conduct preventative maintenance as scheduled.
• Document maintenance activities and report issues.
• Participate in simple root‑cause analysis under supervision.
• Interpret, follow, and contribute to updates in SOPs, work instructions, and job plans.

• Intermediate mechanical and technical skills.
• Ability to read and interpret basic schematics and manuals.
• Familiarity with common maintenance tools and practices.
• Basic problem‑solving skills.
• Basic understanding of root‑cause analysis methodologies such as 5 Whys and Fishbone Diagram.

High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of vocational training program or an apprenticeship in a skilled trade, automotive, or equivalent required. Relevant certifications (e.g., OSHA, basic electrical/mechanical certification) are a plus.

• Minimum 2 years of hands‑on experience in high‑speed automated production, packaging, formulation process, and/or related systems.
• Experience with pneumatic, hydraulic, vision, PLC, and robotics systems.
• Basic understanding of condition‑based monitoring and predictive technologies such as vibration analysis and ultrasonic testing.
• Participation in basic root‑cause analysis exercises using methodologies such as 5 Whys and Fishbone Diagram.
• Application of basic safety practices and awareness of GMP requirements.

• Independently perform a wide range of maintenance tasks, including non‑routine work.
• Apply mechanical and electrical knowledge to troubleshoot and repair complex systems.
• Implement and improve preventative maintenance programs.
• Train junior technicians and apprentices and review work product.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
• Assist in small‑scale capital projects and conduct intermediate root‑cause analysis.
• Follow SOPs rigorously and assist in their review and improvement.

• Lead maintenance teams for small‑scale projects and implement advanced maintenance strategies.
• Evaluate, recommend, and implement enhancements in systems and processes.
• Mentor and train less experienced technicians, outline practices, procedures, and policies.
• Plan and execute small‑scale capital projects.
• Conduct thorough root‑cause analysis and lead problem‑solving efforts.
• Follow SOPs diligently and contribute to their development and revision.
• Develop and optimize detailed work instructions and job plans.

High school diploma or equivalent. Associate degree in industrial maintenance, engineering technology, or equivalent work experience. Advanced technical certifications (e.g., CMRT) are desirable.

• Minimum 6 years of experience in high‑speed automated production, packaging, formulation process, and/or related systems.
• Significant experience with pneumatic, hydraulic, vision, PLC, and robotics systems.
• Hands‑on experience with advanced condition‑based monitoring and predictive technologies such as vibration analysis, ultrasonic testing, infrared thermography, and basic tribology.
• Proficient in leading advanced root‑cause analysis sessions using 5 Whys, Fishbone Diagram, FMEA, and RCFA.
• Track record in managing and executing small‑scale capital projects.
• Leadership in continuous improvement initiatives, driving efficiency and effectiveness in maintenance operations.

The work environment is representative of a manufacturing and laboratory setting. Responsibilities include handling viral and bacterial hazards, potentially hazardous chemicals, and infectious or potentially infectious bodily fluids, tissues, and samples. The role requires up to 50% time in meetings, 50% time at a desk on a computer, walking, standing, or sitting for extended periods of time. Specific vision abilities required include close and distance vision and the ability to adjust focus. Personal protective equipment is required. Flexible work hours may be required to meet project deadlines.

Salary range: $45,000.00 to $93,000.00, bonus eligible. Compensation decisions are based on education, experience, skills, geography, and other factors.
