Job description

Job Summary:

Tracy Electric, Inc. is seeking a skilled and licensed Journeyman Electrician with a solid background in commercial and residential service. This person will ensure all work meets the National Electrical Code (NEC) and Kansas/local codes, while delivering exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Interpret and work from electrical blueprints, diagrams, and construction plans
  • Install, maintain, and repair wiring, outlets, receptacles, lighting fixtures, switches, panels and circuit breakers
  • Inspect systems to identify hazards, defects, and ensure compliance with NEC and local codes
  • Troubleshoot using meters and test instruments, diagnose issues and determine repairs
  • Provide cost estimates and discuss options with homeowners
  • Pull wire, install conduit, and work in attics, crawl spaces, or ceilings
  • Accurately document work performed, and communicate status updates to Service Department and Operations Manager
  • Support or collaborate with HVAC and Plumbing companies as needed

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Must hold a valid MABCD (Sedgwick County) Electrician Certificate (Journeyman or Master)
  • Minimum 2–5 years of experience in residential electrical work
  • Ability to supervise and mentor electrical apprentices on job sites, ensuring quality workmanship, safety compliance and skill development
  • Strong knowledge of NEC, electrical safety practices and relevant local codes
  • Ability to read and interpret detailed schematics and technical drawings
  • Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and time management skills
  • OSHA 10/30 certification preferred
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record; must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen

Work Requirements:

  • Must be comfortable with working in varied environments including attics, crawl spaces, and outdoors
  • Work performed in varying environmental conditions, including exposure to hot and cold temperatures, including attics and crawl spaces
  • Ability to safely and effectively perform duties in extreme temperatures while adhering to all safety protocols
