Job description


The Electric Operations Storm Response group seeks a highly motivated individual to be part of its team. The Specialist works directly with Con Edison and Orange & Rockland operating organizations and assists them with storm response preparation activities and storm response action plans. These proactive efforts will incorporate industry best practices and are designed to help ensure compliance with the Electric Emergency Response Plan as well as PSC regulations. General responsibilities of this position include integrating people, technology, and process improvements to enhance storm outcomes for both internal and external stakeholders.
This position does not provide employment pursuant to the terms of a STEM OPT Training Plan
Responsibilities
Core Responsibilities
  • Creating and/or revising documentation to support existing storm processes and training
  • Developing appropriate training programs and functional exercises that will be designed to enhance operational personnel in the efficient execution of designated system emergency assignments (SEAs)
  • Collaborating with Emergency Preparedness and other departments to ensure that SEAs match employees skill sets
  • Verifying SEA training requirements are identified, communicated, and managed accordingly
  • Implementing action items from internal and external lessons learned discussions
  • Benchmarking with other utilities and companies
  • Assisting with the development and implementation of storm training programs for external stakeholders including elected officials and other municipal representatives
  • Facilitates standardization for Business Processes through building and maintaining networks of key users across all user organizations
  • Supporting governance of storm processes across all company organizations that provide resources to Electric Ops during ICS event mobilizations
  • Recommends appropriate training to be developed for required personnel on all aspects of storm response and associated business processes as necessary for proficiency in use and execution of work practices
  • Partners with the respective O&R business teams, CECONY Storm Planning & Response team and IT on business requirement sessions, design, testing, and implementations ensuring alignment between the operating groups
  • Works closely with CECONY Storm Planning & Response team to facilitate the successful execution of the Companys related applications.
  • Responsible for administering access to O&R applications and conducting regular audits of user access

Qualifications
Required Education/Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 2 years related experience or
Preferred Education/Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree Technical degrees in Engineering, Management, Information Technology or Computer Science. and a minimum of 2 years related experience
Relevant Work Experience
  • Ability to conduct presentations to large audiences is an integral part of the job, required.
  • Must have strong proficiency in computer applications such as MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access, Projects), as well as other company software systems, required.
  • Ability to effectively and positively interact with all levels of management, customers, vendors, regulatory agencies, etc. is essential in this dynamic position, required.
  • Must have good communication, negotiation, and organizational skills, required.
  • Project management, operational experience, forecasting and capital program experience, required.
  • Experience with electric distribution system planning, construction, and operations, preferred.
Licenses and Certifications
  • Driver's License Required
Additional Physical Demands
  • The selected candidate will be assigned a System Emergency Assignment (i.e., an emergency response role) and will be expected to work non-business hours during emergencies, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be able and willing to travel within Company service territory and to other company locations as needed.
