Job description

Productive Resources (www.productiveresources.com) is seeking a candidate to be part of our engineering team at ourcustomer's facility in Alton, IL. As a member of our team, the selected candidate will be a Mechanical Design Engineer joining our engineering team and supporting the design and manufacturing of custom truck equipment. This role will work closelywith the sales, engineering, and shop teams to develop innovative vehicle upfit solutions that meet customer requirementswhile ensuring manufacturability, quality, and performance. The ideal candidate enjoys taking projects from concept throughproduction and thrives in a collaborative, hands-on manufacturing environment.

This is a full-time position that is indefinite in duration with the opportunity of professional growth, and additionalopportunities within our organization.

Duties:
  • Design custom truck body systems and equipment using 3D CAD software.
  • Develop detailed manufacturing drawings, assembly drawings, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
  • Collaborate with the sales team to evaluate customer requirements and develop practical design solutions.
  • Provide engineering support to the fabrication and production teams throughout the build process.
  • Assist with troubleshooting manufacturing issues and implement design improvements to enhance quality andefficiency.
  • Review project specifications and ensure designs comply with customer requirements, industry standards, and safetyregulations.
  • Coordinate with purchasing to identify materials and components required for production.
  • Support prototype development, testing, and implementation of new products and custom applications.
  • Participate in design reviews and communicate project status with cross-functional teams.
  • Maintain engineering documentation and revise drawings as product improvements are implemented.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Experience designing fabricated metal products, truck equipment, heavy equipment, trailers, or similar industrialproducts.
  • Proficiency with 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, Inventor, Creo, or AutoCAD.
  • Experience creating fabrication drawings, weldments, assemblies, and Bills of Materials.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes including welding, machining, fabrication, and assembly.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with sales, engineering, and productionteams.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Preferred:
  • Experience with truck body design, vocational vehicles, utility equipment, or custom vehicle upfitting.
  • Knowledge of chassis integration for manufacturers such as Ford, Chevrolet, Ram, Freightliner, or International.
  • Familiarity with hydraulic systems, electrical components, or mechanical assemblies used in utility and servicevehicles.
  • Experience working in a made-to-order or engineer-to-order manufacturing environment.
