Reporting to the Electrical Coordinator, the Electrical Engineer will be responsible for supporting mining projects and assisting with the planning of underground electrical work, as well as surface work related to underground projects.  Based at the Windfall site in the Northern Quebec region, the engineer will work on a schedule of 15 days on, followed by 13 days off. Transportation, lodging, and meals are provided. 

Tasks and responsibilities                                        

Develop standards and procedures for electrical work;

Ensure the implementation and monitoring of the lockout/tagout (LOTO) program;

Review site electrical drawings and ensure that updates are completed and communicated in a timely manner;

Ensure the integration of new installations and identify future requirements necessary to maintain and improve equipment electrical reliability through a preventive maintenance program;

Participate in the coordination of engineering and project work required to maintain electrical installations;

Ensure the quality and accuracy of technical documentation for electrical assets;

Provide electrical reference documentation for new equipment to maintenance and operations teams;

Coordinate and plan major electrical shutdowns to ensure the long-term reliability of electrical equipment;

Ensure the implementation and monitoring of Arc Flash standards;

Plan and organize contractors' work to support the successful execution of the Windfall Lake project;

Act as the Company's representative on site and ensure that all work is carried out in accordance with best engineering practices;

Prepare daily progress reports, as well as monthly reports and associated variances;

Deliver presentations, when required, to members of Management or other stakeholders to track work progress;

Ensure regulatory compliance of electrical installations, from power generation to distribution;

Comply at all times with occupational health and safety and environmental policies and ensure adherence to these rules by all personnel;

Perform any other duties related to the position of Electrical Engineer that contribute to the successful completion of the project.


Required qualifications

Hold a university degree in Electrical Engineering;

Be a member of the Ordre des ingenieurs du Quebec (OIQ);

Have between three (3) and five (5) years of relevant experience in electrical engineering;

Hold a valid Class 5 driver's license;

Excellent command of the French language and good knowledge of English (required to work with tools and documentation in English);

Hold a valid explosives permit;

Completion of Mining Modules 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 7 (an asset).


Technical skills

Knowledge of codes and regulations governing electrical work;

Basic knowledge of instrumentation and control systems;

Excellent command of the French language and good knowledge of English;

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Outlook, etc.);

Strong knowledge of specialized software such as AutoCAD and ETAP (an asset).

Flexible and open to change and constructive feedback;

Strong organizational skills with the ability to identify and manage priorities;

Ability to work independently, demonstrate initiative, and manage multiple files simultaneously;
