Job Title: Electrical Manager

Employment Type: Full time / Direct Hire

Location: Waukesha, WI

Job Summary:

The Electrical Manager will be responsible for the completion of complex electrical projects for all of our asphalt and aggregate plants within the group of companies.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • The Electrical Manager will be responsible for the completion of complex electrical projects for all of our asphalt and aggregate plants within the group of companies.
  • Primary duties will involve the budgeting, design and project management of electrical work as well as performing field work if necessary.
  • Provide leadership with a strong emphasis on ethics, safety and compliance.
  • Ensure a Safe and Ethical Work Environment.
  • Be self-sufficient and require little direction to determine the scope of electrical projects and arrange for appropriate subcontractors or internal resources to perform the work.
  • Assist as needed with the electrical design and troubleshooting of facility equipment in either Asphalt or Aggregate facilities.
  • Provide or assist in creating written job scopes, securing quotes for the work and handling competitive bid process.
  • Evaluate and review third party engineering conceptual designs, quotations and drawings for accuracy and communicates deficiencies for resolution in the best interest of the company.
  • Monitor Subcontractors work, manage timeline of projects and report completion progress as needed or requested
  • Review and understand electrical codes and design specifications to effectively monitor job cost estimates and related reports.
  • Monitors project budgets and work quality. Performs field inspection by visiting different job sites possibly staying at the sites for periods of time. Regularly reports on project progress.
  • Assist in development of standard specifications for construction projects, start-up and maintenance procedures and training on new and existing systems.
  • Observe machine operation to detect product defects or machine malfunction.
  • Test and troubleshoot malfunctioning equipment to determine repairs.
  • Make sure all housekeeping is maintained in a clear and orderly fashion in all work areas.
  • Perform a variety of plant diagnostic, maintenance, repair and installation operations.
  • Work under tight and critical deadlines with the ability to shift focus due to plant needs.
  • Work with management to develop and maintain a predictive maintenance plan for company assets.
  • Knowledge of MSHA is a plus
  • Projects will vary by location throughout the local area, or the state, so willingness to travel to any job site is required as needed.

Qualifications:

  • 5 plus years of experience working in Electrical Management within construction or manufacturing environments
  • Training and certification/licensing in the electrical field with a strong understanding of electricity and the components related to large- and small-scale electrical work
  • Working knowledge of electrical code guidelines and regulations in Wisconsin, Illinois, and Michigan
  • Must be a team player
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities as well as consulting, conflict management, interpersonal and negotiation skills
  • The ability to develop strong trusting relationships in order to gain support and achieve results
  • Self-directed and motivated with the ability to manage multiple, conflicting priorities
  • Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record
  • Ability to understand mechanical prints, electrical schematics, electrical prints, understand operation manuals and follow step by step instructions.
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability is preferred.
  • Knowledge of hydraulics and mechanics is preferred.
  • VFD and PLC experience is a plus.

Preferred Skills

  • Master Electrician Certification Preferred
  • 4 Year Electrical Engineering Degree Preferred
  • Experience in a vertically integrated heavy/highway construction materials organization
  • Microsoft Office Suite Proficiency
  • Auto-Cad Experience Preferred.
