Join Our Team as Instrumentation and Controls Lead III - Drive Innovation in Upstream Production!
Are you a seasoned engineer with a passion for instrumentation, controls, and leading complex projects? We're seeking an experienced Instrumentation and Controls Lead III to spearhead critical pre-commissioning and commissioning activities for high-stakes upstream oil and gas projects. This pivotal role offers the opportunity to influence project success through technical expertise, strategic planning, and collaborative leadership. What You'll Do:
  • Define the scope of all pre-commissioning and commissioning activities, assign workloads, and review standards and procedures.
  • Develop accurate man-hours, cost estimates, budgets, and progress reports for instrumentation scopes across all project phases.
  • Support engineering services for existing operating units and new capital projects, ensuring safety, availability, and reliability of instrument and control systems while optimizing costs.
  • Coordinate with customers, vendors, engineers, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Participate in HAZOP, LOPA, and other technical reviews, ensuring constructs meet quality and safety standards.
  • Review and approve engineering deliverables, including instrument indexes, installation details, datasheets, wiring and P&ID drawings, material requisitions, and control logic.
  • Oversee Acceptance Testing, including procedure review, resource management, and real-time adjustment of commissioning activities.
  • Develop and maintain detailed schedules, tracking progress and adjusting plans as needed to meet project milestones.

Required Skills:
  • Proven experience in instrumentation and controls, with supervisory or leadership background.
  • Advanced degree in Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Deep knowledge of design standards, safety codes, and project specifications.
  • Proficiency in reviewing and updating P&IDs, control narratives, and control architecture diagrams.
  • Hands-on experience with hardware selection, including pressure, temperature, level instruments, control and shutdown valves, and fire/gas detection systems.
  • Strong data analysis skills using SAP, Analytics for Excel, Tableau, or comparable tools.
  • Ability to thrive under tight deadlines, manage heavy workloads, and adapt to shifting priorities.
  • Excellent communication skills in English for technical and business documentation.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

Nice to Have:
  • Experience with ISA data sheet specifications.
  • Knowledge of constructability reviews and quality assurance processes.
  • Familiarity with upstream production operations and safety protocols.

Preferred Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, or related).
  • Significant experience in upstream oil and gas projects, operations, or capital project leadership.

Other Requirements:
  • Willingness to engage in in-person or Zoom meet-and-greets.
  • Willing to travel as required for project needs.
  • Relevant certifications related to instrumentation, safety, or project management are a plus.
