BAS Controls Technician - Houston, TX - Full-Service HVAC & Building Automation Company - Up to $60/hr + Company Vehicle

A leading full-service HVAC and Building Automation contractor is seeking an experienced BAS Controls Technician to support commercial and industrial facilities across the greater Houston, TX region. This role focuses on the installation, start-up, troubleshooting, and commissioning of DDC/BAS systems for a wide variety of building environments.

About the Opportunity:

The BAS Controls Technician will be part of a project and service team responsible for commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintaining direct digital control (DDC) and building automation systems. This position requires hands-on technical skills, strong problem-solving abilities, and professional communication with customers, contractors, and internal teams.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Install, start up, and commission DDC/BAS control systems for commercial HVAC applications
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair BAS, HVAC control equipment, and networked devices
  • Perform detailed point-to-point checkout, functional testing, and system performance verification
  • Install, wire, and test sensors, controllers, actuators, and field-level devices
  • Write, adjust, and load BAS programs using standard libraries and custom logic when needed
  • Pull wire, install conduit, and support electrical/control infrastructure installation
  • Work closely with mechanical and controls teams during equipment start-up and commissioning
  • Optimize and tune existing BAS systems for better comfort, energy efficiency, and performance
  • Communicate clearly with building owners, end-users, contractors, and internal stakeholders
  • Ensure all work complies with project specifications, quality standards, and safety protocols
Ideal Candidate Profile:
  • Experience as a BAS Controls Technician or similar HVAC/DDC controls role
  • Strong understanding of DDC troubleshooting, commissioning, and controls integration
  • Hands-on experience with control wiring, device installation, and system start-up
  • Proficiency with commissioning processes and point-to-point verification
  • Ability to edit, write, and manipulate BAS programs
  • Comfortable pulling wire, installing conduit, and working on construction or retrofit projects
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Self-driven, organized, and able to work effectively both independently and within a team
Preferred Technical Experience:
  • Hands-on experience with Tridium Niagara platforms
  • Familiarity with Distech and/or Siemens controls systems
  • Background in commercial HVAC controls within office buildings, healthcare, education, or industrial facilities
