Job description

Responsibilities
  • Develop and review electrical, instrumentation, and controls engineering designs for industrial and construction projects. Prepare and review Single Line Diagrams (SLD), load calculations, short-circuit and coordination studies, power quality studies, harmonics mitigation, cable sizing, panel schedules, lighting layouts, area classification drawings, earthing and lightning protection systems, process flow diagrams, instrument loop diagrams, I/O lists, cable schedules, panel layouts, control system architecture, and network system architecture.
  • Design, coordinate, and support implementation of Medium Voltage (MV), Low Voltage (LV), and Extra Low Voltage (ELV) systems including power distribution, transformers, switchgear, MCCs, VFD's, RVSS, UPS systems, emergency power systems, communication systems, and security systems.
  • Interpret and understand Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs). Develop and support control philosophies & solutions across DCS, PLC, SCADA, HMI, and SIS (Safety Instrumented System such as safety PLC) automation systems. Coordinate instrumentation selection, installation, calibration, loop checking, and functional testing activities.
  • Design and review electrical lighting systems including indoor, outdoor, emergency, and industrial lighting layouts, calculations and integration while ensuring compliance with project specifications and applicable codes.
  • Provide technical support during construction, installation, and commissioning phases. Conduct site inspections, resolve field issues, coordinate with subcontractors and vendors, and ensure installation activities comply with approved drawings, specifications, and safety requirements.
  • Support FAT, SAT, pre-commissioning, commissioning, startup, energization, troubleshooting, and system validation activities to ensure systems operate as intended.
  • Prepare material take-offs (MTO), bill of quantities (BOQ), labor estimates, and project cost estimates for electrical and instrumentation systems. Support procurement activities including technical bid evaluations and vendor coordination.
  • Coordinate with process, mechanical (fire protection, HVAC, plumbing), architectural, civil, design and construction teams to ensure smooth project execution. Participate in design reviews, HAZOP meetings, technical discussions, and project progress meetings.
  • Maintain engineering documentation including drawings, specifications, reports, commissioning records, redlines, as-built drawings, and handover packages. Provide technical reports and project status updates to management and clients
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and site personnel. Support troubleshooting, decision-making, and continuous improvement initiatives across projects.

Work Experience Requirements
  • Minimum 8+ years of experience within industrial construction, EPC, manufacturing, semiconductor, chemical, oil & gas, or process industries.
  • Strong understanding of MV, LV, and ELV systems.
  • Knowledge of NEC, NFPA, IEC, ISA, IEEE and AHJ
  • Ability to work in fast-paced EPC and construction environments.
  • Experience designing and commissioning at least one major DCS, PLC, SCADA facility from FEED through startup and commissioning.
  • Fluent with AutoCAD Electrical, Revit MEP, ETAP or similar, and at least one major controls platform such as AVEVA (Wonderware), Ignition, RA Factory Talk, etc.

Education Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, or related field.
