Job description

ASRC Federal NetCentric Technology, LLC is seeking an Electrical Engineer - Operations to support the Kirtland AFB Engineering Operations Services (KEOS) contract in Albuquerque, New Mexico. KEOS is a base maintenance and operations support-type contract, also known as BMC or BOS.

Job Summary:

The Electrical Engineer - Operations will support the sustainment of mission critical facilities and infrastructure at Kirtland AFB to ensure our customers’ mission success.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform specific duties and responsibilities related to Electrical engineering including evaluating electrical systems, equipment, and applications.
  • Provides efficient, effective, and timely electrical engineering expertise, to include, but not limited to determining electrical loads, generator sizing, and interior electrical design.
  • Consult US Air Force (USAF) Requirements & Optimization (R&O) playbook upon project initiations to develop maintenance requirements.
  • Perform interim and final inspections on equipment installations, repair and renovations, and new construction, capturing pertinent data for inclusion in the government’s system of record.
  • Employ expertise to assess 
  • Collaborate with customer staff, project programmers, cost estimators, and mechanical, structural, and civil engineers to provide technical support in both one-off efforts and extended duration project scoping; ensure proper specification and integration of electrical system(s) in construction project packages.
  • Provides the specification and technical language for scope of work development to include preparing cost estimates for electrical systems associated with medium to small scale projects.
  • Conducts technical review of third-party design, plans, and specifications for construction projects ranging up to tens of millions of dollars.
  • Performs root cause analysis on systems failing prematurely or systemically.
  • Reviews work request submissions for validity of scope and practicality of work in-house.
  • Prepares reports, briefings, and documents to explain and present project information, technical assessments, and findings.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from a program certified by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET).
  • Be able to identify common site architectural, civil, mechanical, electrical, and fire protection/detection system components, and understand how they function/operate.
  • Have experience planning and/or performing facility maintenance, improvements, or repairs.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Be able to take initiative and work independently without direct supervision.
  • Ability to collect, analyze and summarize data and prepare daily reports.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment that requires handling multiple tasks at a given time and rapidly adapting to changing priorities and schedules.
  • Possess competent and effective computer skills to include using Microsoft Office 365 applications.
  • Must have proficient English oral and written communication skills sufficient to effectively communicate with employees, management, and customers.
  • Must be a US citizen and currently possess or be able to obtain/maintain a U.S. government-issued security clearance.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid US driver's license.
  • Must be able to pass a drug screen.
  • Able to work in an office environment with extended periods at a computer and a field environment requiring full range of motion and movement for purposes of inspections/assessments and site visits; be able to perform physical activities including climbing and working at heights greater than 50 feet, crawling, working outdoors, and repetitive physical tasks involving lifting at least 30 lbs.
  • Be committed to providing for and maintaining a safe working environment.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Three or more years of experience working in the engineering section at a major military installation, preferably a US Air Force base.
  • Possess applicable building code and life safety knowledge to provide assessment services.
  • Knowledge of construction management software, project closeout procedures, preventive maintenance, construction and repair terminology and processes.
  • Experience performing facility assessments and Real Property Inventory Equipment (RPIE) condition assessments.
  • Have familiarity with USAF Civil Engineering guidance, rules, and regulations to include but not limited to:  preventative maintenance, real property, linear segmentation, BUILDER, and/or NexGenIT.
