Job description

Electrical Technician | Automation & Controls

70% Travel | Hands-On Technical Role

If you're an Electrical Technician who enjoys travel, complex troubleshooting, automation, and seeing the direct results of your work, this opportunity offers a chance to put your skills to work across a variety of facilities and projects.

What You'll Do:

  • Commission, test, and troubleshoot machine and process control systems
  • Build, wire, modify, and repair electrical equipment and controls
  • Work with PLCs, HMIs, electrical schematics, and automation systems
  • Diagnose and resolve difficult electrical and electronic failures
  • Partner with engineers to implement innovative automation solutions
  • Execute equipment retrofits and continuous improvement projects
  • Create preventative maintenance recommendations
  • Train and mentor fellow technicians

We're looking for someone who can work independently, think critically under pressure, and travel extensively to support customers and operations.

What You'll Bring:

  • Requires one of the following:
    • Associate's degree with an emphasis in electronics or an electrical program and three (3) years of electrical experience OR
    • High school diploma or equivalent and five (5) years of electrical experience
  • Thorough understanding of electrical and safety standards
  • Proficiency in using powered and manual hand tools such as soldering iron, multimeter, wrench, hammer, screwdriver, etc.
  • Prior experience using testing equipment
  • Ability to understand, identify, and protect against electrical hazards
  • Ability to solve basic algebraic equations and electrical formulas, and understand decimals and fractions
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints or drawings including, but not limited to manuals, catalogues, schematics, prints or wire lists
  • Understanding of automated production equipment, electrical and hardware schematics, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) ladder logic, Human-Machine Interface (HMI), and controls software, experience preferred
  • Understanding of production processes, quality control, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture of products
  • Excellent verbal and written skills necessary in order to communicate intricate job-related processes
