Instrumentation / Electrical Technician II


Position Summary

The Instrumentation/Electrical Technician II is responsible for wiring, programming, troubleshooting, testing, and completing electrical and automation assemblies both in the manufacturing environment and at customer facilities. This role requires a skilled electrical and mechanical technician capable of completing projects with minimal supervision while meeting production schedules and quality standards. The technician will work closely with engineering, production, and service teams to ensure successful equipment assembly, installation, and operation. Success in this role requires strong problem-solving skills, collaboration, leadership, and the ability to work independently.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Modify and edit robotic automation platforms.
  • Build electrical control panels according to engineering schematics.
  • Wire machinery, including sensors, switches, solenoids, motors, and other electrical components.
  • Troubleshoot, test, and validate equipment prior to shipment.
  • Perform quality control reviews of PLC and HMI programming.
  • Build assemblies from engineering drawing packages and bills of materials according to specifications.
  • Assist with equipment testing, commissioning, and performance verification.
  • Prepare equipment for shipment, including disassembly and packaging as required.
  • Install machinery at customer sites using installation packages and line layout drawings.
  • Assist with equipment layout, mechanical installation, startup activities, and final programming or instrumentation adjustments to ensure proper operation.
  • Travel to customer locations to diagnose and resolve equipment issues, perform repairs, and provide technical service support.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to improve equipment design, reduce costs, increase efficiency, and enhance productivity.
  • Work with purchasing and inventory teams to maintain appropriate stock levels, tooling, and production resources.
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and efficient work environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to read, interpret, and work from electrical and mechanical blueprints and schematics.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and order-of-operations concepts.
  • Associate degree in Electrical Technology, Instrumentation, Automation, or a related technical field; equivalent work experience may be considered.
  • Experience with industrial instrumentation systems.
  • PLC, HMI, and automation programming experience preferred.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in electrical, mechanical, and control systems.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to create detailed service reports.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Willingness and ability to travel as required for equipment installations and service calls.
  • Ability to safely lift up to 100 pounds on a continual basis.
  • Ability to climb ladders and work in industrial environments.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Valid U.S. Passport and ability to travel internationally.
