Description

About the Position:

At EEI, we believe in doing things the right way, with excellence, integrity, and genuine care for our people. As an employee-owned company, our People First culture is rooted in trust, accountability, and shared success.

As a Mission Critical Electrical Support team member, you will work alongside experienced engineers and field technicians supporting the testing, verification, and documentation of electrical systems in data centers and high-reliability facilities. You will work closely with project managers, commissioning team members, clients, contractors, and vendors to help keep schedules, documentation, communications, and follow-up items on track - with the goal of helping ensure every mission critical facility we deliver performs exactly as designed.

This position is ideal for someone with an electrical engineering degree or strong foundational experience in electrical systems who is detail-oriented, adaptable, and ready to grow by doing in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment.

.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Support the commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting of electrical building systems - including power distribution, lighting, wiring, and controls - to help verify each system performs as designed.
  • Verify electrical installations against design specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements, and document findings thoroughly.
  • Participate in system testing across a range of conditions - full load, no load, and failure scenarios, tracking issues and corrective actions through resolution.
  • Coordinate with engineers, contractors, and vendors in the field to resolve commissioning issues and support project delivery.
  • Conduct site inspections and ensure all commissioning activities are carried out in compliance with safety standards, site-specific protocols, and EEI requirements.

Qualifications:

Required

  • Experience in electrical systems, facilities operations, commissioning, construction, engineering, maintenance, building operations, military electrical work, or a related technical environment.
  • Working knowledge of power distribution systems, switchgear, UPS systems, generators, PDUs, controls, and related electrical equipment used in mission-critical or high-reliability facilities.
  • Understanding of MEP systems, controls, and integrated building operations.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, sequences of operation, submittals, technical documentation, and system information.
  • Ability to independently execute assigned technical activities while collaborating effectively with project teams.
  • Strong organizational, troubleshooting, communication, documentation, and teamwork skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and commissioning documentation tools or project software.
  • Strong commitment to ethical standards and confidentiality.
  • Currently authorized to work in the U.S. full-time without the need for sponsorship now or in the future.

Preferred

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Facilities Management, and/or a related field preferred.
  • Experience with data centers, mission-critical facilities, healthcare facilities, building automation systems, controls integration, or high-reliability environments.
  • Hands-on experience supporting functional performance testing, equipment startup, issue tracking, commissioning documentation, or project closeout activities.
  • Relevant certification or active interest in professional development related to commissioning, building performance, or mission-critical operations.

Certifications

  • PE, LEED, CxA, PMP, and/or other equivalent certifications strongly preferred.

Working Conditions:

  • Typical Travel: Up to 75%. Travel requirements vary by project and individual location.
  • Work Environment: Hybrid environment of office and field-based work for site visits. Site visits may include mission-critical facilities, data centers, active construction environments, mechanical rooms, uneven ground, varying weather conditions, and field interactions.
  • Physical Requirements: Must be able to perform site inspections, which may include walking project sites, climbing ladders, occasionally lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs, and working in confined spaces when needed. Reasonable accommodation may be provided.
  • Reports to: Electrical Lead or assigned project technical lead.
  • Supervisory duties: This role is primarily an individual contributor and does not require direct supervisory responsibility unless assigned.
  • Partners with: Contractors, subcontractors, vendors, and equipment manufacturers on project sites, as well as internal project engineers and senior technical team members across disciplines.
  • Key Representative to: EEI clients, contractors, vendors, and project stakeholders.
