M&J is seeking an Electrical Engineer. This role is essential to ensure the safety, reliability, and compliance of Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA)'s structural assets. Candidates will work in the field conducting inspections, documenting deficiencies, and coordinating with engineering and maintenance teams to provide support in the area of electrical engineering.ย 

Responsibilities
  • Work with ELES staff to create standard operating procedures (SOPs) for elevator and escalator modernization.
  • Create work plans for elevator and escalator modernization.
  • Develop a data-driven predictive maintenance program in collaboration with ELES staff.
  • Review engineering criteria, directives, standard drawings, and specifications related to electrical systems.
  • Review recommendations for tests and control procedures for elevator and escalator equipment.
  • Prepare electrical design drawings and specifications for elevator and escalator operations.
  • Perform duties related to WMATA lighting designs.
  • Perform Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) programming.
  • Demonstrate familiarity with protocols such as Modbus RTU or TCP/IP, Ethernet IP, DeviceNet, Profibus, and ProfiNet.
  • Demonstrate familiarity with fire alarm systems.
  • Coordinate with WMATA personnel to accomplish assigned tasks.
  • Prepare materials lists and identify action items needed to complete tasks.
  • Respond to WMATA questions related to this scope of work.
  • Provide draft documents to stakeholders for review prior to finalization.
  • Address WMATA comments and feedback on draft documents.
  • Attend all required meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the WMATA Task Manager.
Qualifications
  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
  • A minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in electrical engineering, with emphasis on design and related functions.
  • Thorough knowledge of electrical engineering principles and practices, including their application to field construction and equipment installation, in accordance with applicable codes and standards.
  • Knowledge of, or ability to quickly learn, the Authority's electrical engineering guides, specifications, rules, and regulations.
  • Proficiency in preparing designs, cost estimates, and technical engineering reports.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively at all levels of the organization.
  • Experience in task management.
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer in one of the signatory jurisdictions of the WMATA compact, i.e., District of Columbia, Maryland, or Virginia.
