Job Description

A growing engineering firm is seeking an Electrical Engineer to support upcoming commercial, industrial, and educational projects in the Seattle area. In this role, you design and develop electrical systems, collaborate closely with clients and multidisciplinary teams, and use industry-standard design tools such as AutoCAD and Revit. Responsibilities

  • Design electrical systems for commercial, industrial, and educational projects in accordance with applicable codes, standards, and project requirements.
  • Collaborate with clients to understand project needs, clarify design intent, and provide responsive technical support throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines, including architectural, mechanical, structural, and other engineering teams, to ensure integrated and constructible designs.
  • Develop detailed electrical drawings and documentation using AutoCAD, while actively learning and applying Revit for building information modeling (BIM).
  • Perform electrical engineering calculations and analyses to support system sizing, equipment selection, and overall design integrity.
  • Apply tools such as Arc Flash analysis software (including EasyPowerDB and SKM Power) to evaluate system safety and performance.
  • Support commercial building design, including power distribution, lighting, and related electrical systems for new construction and renovations.
  • Contribute to industrial and educational facility projects by preparing layouts, single-line diagrams, panel schedules, and other design deliverables.
  • Review and update design documents based on feedback from clients, internal reviewers, and field conditions.
  • Participate in project meetings and communicate design progress, issues, and solutions to project stakeholders.
  • Assist in preparing documentation for permitting, bidding, and construction, including specifications and design narratives.
  • Support quality control by checking drawings and calculations for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with standards.
  • Take initiative to learn new tools and methods, including advanced Revit workflows, to improve design efficiency and project delivery.
  • Demonstrate professionalism and strong interpersonal skills when interacting with clients, colleagues, and project partners.
  • Contribute to a positive, collaborative work culture by sharing knowledge, supporting team members, and participating in internal development activities.

Essential Skills

  • Approximately 2+ years of electrical engineering or electrical design experience in commercial, industrial, and educational projects.
  • Experience with commercial building design, including commercial construction and commercial design projects.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD for electrical design and drafting.
  • At least 2+ years of experience using Revit and AutoCAD for electrical engineering or design work.
  • Hands-on experience with electrical design tools such as Arc Flash analysis software, including EasyPowerDB and SKM Power, with at least 2+ years of use.
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in electrical engineering or a closely related discipline.
  • Ability to interact effectively with clients and internal teams, including other engineering disciplines.
  • Strong understanding of electrical engineering principles as applied to building systems.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and support several projects simultaneously in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for preparing documentation and participating in meetings.
  • Capability to learn and adapt to new software tools and design methodologies, particularly within Revit.
