We currently have an opportunity for a Electrical Engineer at our Manufacturing Facility in Richmond, VA.


The Electrical Engineer provides technical leadership for capital projects and electrical engineering initiatives that improve manufacturing operations, equipment reliability, safety, quality, and productivity. This role partners with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and cross-functional teams to develop and implement electrical solutions that support business objectives while ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget. The position exercises independent judgment in project execution, equipment design, and continuous improvement initiatives while driving operational excellence across the manufacturing facility.

Capital Project Management

  • Lead electrical capital projects from concept through startup, ensuring scope, schedule, budget, and performance objectives are achieved.
  • Develop project scopes, cost estimates, business justifications, and capital funding requests that support strategic manufacturing initiatives.
  • Monitor project execution, spending, and timelines while proactively managing risks to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Coordinate contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders to achieve project milestones safely and efficiently.

Electrical Engineering & Manufacturing Support

  • Design, specify, modify, and improve electrical systems and manufacturing equipment to enhance safety, quality, productivity, and reliability.
  • Provide technical expertise for troubleshooting complex electrical and controls issues that impact manufacturing performance.
  • Evaluate existing equipment and recommend engineering solutions that improve operational efficiency and reduce downtime.
  • Support equipment startups, commissioning activities, and validation to ensure successful implementation.

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify and implement process improvements that optimize manufacturing performance, reduce costs, and increase equipment effectiveness.
  • Partner with Operations and Maintenance to prioritize engineering initiatives aligned with plant objectives and capital plans.
  • Apply structured problem-solving techniques to identify root causes and implement sustainable corrective actions.
  • Support standardization and continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing operations.

Safety & Compliance

  • Promote a strong safety culture by incorporating safe engineering practices into all project planning and execution activities.
  • Ensure electrical engineering projects comply with applicable safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support plant initiatives that strengthen operational compliance and risk reduction.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Build effective partnerships with Operations, Maintenance, Quality, and Engineering teams to achieve business objectives.
  • Communicate project status, risks, timelines, and results to stakeholders while ensuring alignment throughout project execution.
  • Provide technical guidance during project planning, implementation, and post-startup support.

Education/Experience

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent engineering discipline.
  • 4+ years of progressively responsible electrical engineering experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment

Preferred

  • Experience managing capital improvement projects in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience supporting continuous improvement and equipment reliability initiatives.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Knowledge of electrical engineering principles, industrial power distribution, motor controls, and manufacturing equipment.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects while balancing changing business priorities.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and root cause problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to develop project budgets, schedules, and cost estimates.
